this review is more about the owner and less about the food, but i will address both.
pantheon was one of my favorite pizza places growing up. i was sad to learned it closed after being away for 20+ years. having lived in New York for over 12 years and LA for 5 years and having traveled extensively, i still always held pantheon in my top 5 pizza places. i was excited to try corleone’s since it took over the old pantheon brick and mortar. and to be clear I didn’t expect it to be the same as pantheon. with that said, here is my review…
the food:
it was mid at best, while i didn’t mind the char on the pizza, there was something lacking in the overall taste. personally i prefer to support locally owned spots and put money back into the community. sorry this just wasn’t as delicious as I’d hoped it would be. however this pizza would do in a crunch to avoid eating chain pizzas. for context we ordered 1 medium pepperoni and 1 medium meat lovers and a Greek salad.
the service:
while the overall service when picking the food up was ok, one thing that struck me was that, i told the woman ringing me up she could keep the change. her response: did you say i could keep the change? when i responded, “yes”, her response was “hmpf” - i moved past that as i truly didn’t care.
unfortunately my mother didn’t enjoy the food and decided to write a review. which i understand can be frustrating for small business owners, when it isn’t a pleasant review. especially a storied business like yours which has been serving the community since 1981. congratulations on your 44 years of business. my family actually owned a restaurant in Daytona Beach for years that served the community for years. so we fully understand how important a business like yours is.
however where you lost me was your very rude response to my mother’s review. and also all of the other small-minded responses I’ve read, which you’ve written back to your customers. you are entitled to speak up for your business, but based on your previous responses to anyone who has shared an unpleasant experience, it seems you can’t take any sort of feedback. you responses are ridiculous and insulting and dare i say they boarder on bullying. also referring to someone who “must have been on free lunch” is tone deaf and low vibrational. while my mother was never on free lunch, do you know how dumb you sound making an assumption that someone who did receive free lunch would somehow not know that your pizza is or isn’t good??
perhaps instead of feeling the need to respond to every review, you could track where there might be room for improvement. the most disappointing part of this whole exchange is that I’ve actually heard your wings are good, but now i have no interest in ordering from your restaurant. and that has nothing to do with the mid pizza and everything to do with your horrible customer service.
a word of advice, resist the urge to respond to me and enjoy your sunday. have a...
Read moreWe ordered a peperoni pizza, wings and a Caesar salad using via their website last night. Our order when through at 4:55pm, with an official order time of 5pm since they don't open until 5pm. The online system did not provide an estimate for delivery, so after an hour, and calling multiple times with no answer, I started worrying they were closed due to COVID. Our condo was only 1.5 miles away so we jumped in the car and drove to Corleone's. At this point it was 6:55, two hours after we ordered. I walked in to inquire about my order and I mentioned it was for delivery. The man, in a condescending tone, said if you ordered for delivery, why are you here? I was fuming. I said I ordered 2 hours ago and he said delivery is 1.5 hours. I was not aware of this, but whatever, we were past that timeframe anyway. I told him my name and gave my address and it became clear he did not have my order. I let him know I ordered online and the man said, did you get a confirmation email. I said yes, I got two emails. One email said an order was submitted and another said it was confirmed. He finally said, well if I don't have an order ticket, it's our fault (DUH!). A woman opened a laptop and immediately found my ticket and gave it to the man in the kitchen. He said I will make it next. I asked how long will that take. He responded with, I said I will make it next. I asked again. I said I don't know how long your oven takes to cook a pizza. He replied 20 minutes. At no point did anyone apologize or act like they felt bad or cared that we waited 2 hours and 20 minutes for our order.
A nice girl called me when it was done, about 20 minutes later, and was waiting on the sidewalk with my order. I assume she did that so I didn't have to interact with the a-hole inside making the pizzas. I asked her if I can remove the tip I left (for delivery) since it wasn't delivered. I crossed it out so hopefully they really do remove it. It would have been nice to get a discount on our order, or an apology for that matter, but neither happened. I have never had someone be so rude to me (for no reason) and I don't know how they stay in business treating people that way. We will never go back or recommend this...
Read moreOrdered my pizza and Gyros at 7:30 pm, person who took my phone order said " See you soon". I am local and live in Daytona Beach. I believe in supporting local business that are individually owned. I have been a loyal customer here at Corleone's for over 2 years and was there when they opened after Matthew and Irma when business was not doing very well. I will admit the pizza is good here, but my experience last night was disappointing, rude and unfair. As I said, I ordered at 7:30pm , arrived at 8:00 said hello and told of my order. While waiting made a few jokes. Waited some more and at 8:30 pm asked how my order was going. I was told my order was not received and had not been started. HUH? What were they thinking, I came by to hang out. I became upset. Now this is where it gets good. The pizza guy told me I was being rude and ordered me out of the restaurant and never to come back ever again. I was shocked. He was upset at me because I was upset my order I made an hour ago had not been started. I am sure he will respond and I hope in his response he will give a detailed response on how I was rude and exactly what I said that would make him ban a loyal local customer. I have no problem going to MidiCi pizza or Stavros pizza for good pizza, just wanted to support his restaurant and family. I wish him and his restaurant luck but he will never see a penny of my money ever again and I will make sure I tell anyone local of my experience and how loyal and dedicated customers get treated at this...
