Our visit today was by far the worst at any IHOP we have visited. We were traveling on I4 in Debary and decided to stop. Our server was obviously new to waiting tables and although he was extremely nice, he was under stress due to kitchen issues and poor training. We overheard another table having similar worries about the service and asked them since they had received their food already, they informed us that it was said the kitchen was backed up. This made little sense, since the dining area wasn't even 30% full and it looked to be several employees standing around. We had placed our order and were waiting, Roger our server came to check on us and we asked if there was an issue, he said the kitchen was backed up due to a rush that had passed. Some time passed and he started to bring out our order, one plate at a time. My wife's omelet, my country steak. The server then asked if we wanted the toppings on our pancakes, we have never been asked as they are the specialty pancakes, we said yes and he told us the cook was still preparing them. Out came my wife's pancakes first and mine a few minutes after. Both served on small plates that were the same size as the pancakes, we had to request larger plates in order to be able to eat without getting syrup and food all over the table. My wife's omelet was made poorly and my country steak was served on the plate on top of the eggs and hash browns and should have been plated separate due to the size of the meal. There was a small spoon of gravy on the steak, I had to request more and the pancakes were missing the whip cream. Through all this Roger was very courteous and helpful. We spoke with the manager, a female who's name I did not get, she did not seem to want to acknowledge the issues and even said it is their policy to serve pancakes on small plates and then said the server should have noticed and fixed the issue, which makes no sense if she claims it is their policy. We mentioned that he seemed new and may need training to know these things then. She then said thank you for letting her know and walked off abruptly. My blueberry pancakes glaze tasted like it may have gone bad and I did not eat them. Roger brought our check out shortly after and told us the manager had given us a discount, although appreciated, we did not expect that. He then stood tableside waiting for us to fill out the receipt, this was just one more sign of the lack of training for someone new to serving. He did not ask if we wanted to take anything with us, as I am sure he could tell it was left for a reason. Sorry for the very lengthy review, but I would say that this location definitely needs a training review of not only new hire servers but possibly the kitchen and managerial staff. We did choose to tip Roger the discount amount as he did not deserve to be blamed for poor kitchen nor poor training. Hope others have a better experience at this location...
Read more11/20/2021 1 Star I ordered the steak tips medium rare. They arrived burned. My wife’s medium-rare T-bone was also burned. Both my wife’s and my dinners were sent back because they were not cooked right. The potatoes were stone cold when the order came back. It went back again, and they nuked the whole plate. I burned my mouth on the tips. I am taking 2 stars from my previous reviews. Dinner here is horrible. I feel bad for the servers here.
08/30/2020 5 Stars My daughter came out to breakfast with me this morning. Most of Deltona and DeBary was here too. We were seated right away. Even though they were at capacity, the wait was only 15 minutes on our food. Our server was Karen. She is always attentive and friendly. I ordered the steak tips and eggs again. It has become my favorite, and it was great as usual. The steak tips were so tender they melted in my mouth. It was a great experience again.
07/302020 5 Stars My wife and I brought some of the grandkids out for breakfast. Another great experience with great food. Wonderful, we had a great time, and the grandkids keep asking to come back.
6/15/2020 5 Stars I took my grandson out for pancake breakfast after his bloodwork this morning. The dining room was zoned off in sections because of COVID. My grandson got the blueberry pancakes, and I got steak tips and eggs. The meal seemed extra special as it was our first breakfast out since COVID started. Our server, Karen, was polite and friendly. We had a great experience.
05/20/2019 My Mom and brother took me out for breakfast for my birthday again at IHOP. The server was polite and efficient, but I would not say friendly or happy. She was there to do a job. I had the chicken fried steak n eggs again. FYI the country gravy has pork sausage, and the only substitute is turkey gravy. The food was what I expected, nothing great or good. The food came out quickly after we ordered, and our order was correct. Overall, I was not impressed with the experience, service, or food. I would give them two of five stars, this visit. With the previous two visits, they drop from a 4 to a 3 star.
05/20/2018 Four Star Good breakfast food. I have been here twice in the last 30 days. Polite, friendly servers. Service times were about 15 minutes each time.
04/30/2018 Four Star The server was friendly, polite, and attentive. Our order was placed, and our food came right out. I ordered the Chicken fried steak n eggs, but the country gravy has pork sausage that is not listed on the menu. Our server took my order right back, and in 5 minutes was back with another steak, and a side of...
Read moreMe and my husband left here yesterday morning truly upset after waiting 48 (maybe longer) minutes for our food. We had left a busy morning with our son from a cross country meet in which he was so happy to place an amazing score , to eat a big breakfast before heading home. We were seated immediately, great! Waitress greeted us almost upon being seated, great! Waitress took our drink order and we entered also a sampler order to give us some more time to think. Drinks came out, sampler followed( drinks and sampler, super yummy), great! Once she came back around(last time she came around) to refill our drinks and take our meal order, everything seemed ,perfect! We were having a good time, we were cracking jokes, I recved a call from my brother. All was fine. Until my husband and I noticed, that we found ourselves In a social media scrolling time. No waitress, no apology for the wait, other families that came behind us, gone or leaving. I check my call with my brother...48 minutes ago!!!!! We look around, we see the waitress entering either more orders or something else. A co-waitres sees us trying to make eye contact with our waitress. Finally! She comes over and no words, at this time my 14 year old mega hungry athlete is starving, hurting, sore, super tired, my husband is irritated, tired and hungry...I had enough waiting, I asked for the bill, politely with even a please. Waitress didn't seem to care or she had no words to give! Turned around and provided us with the receipt and immediately waited us at check out. My husband at this point holding his frustration expecting an apology or even an explanation at this point on why we were there for so long and she didn't even provide enough customer care to at least keep up aware of any possible issues happening either from a screwed up order, accidental mis routing of plates or even issues with kitchen ..we didn't know what was going on or what had happened. We just knew that something happened right after we placed our order and we ended up in a grey area. Very disappointed......! We have been here many , many , many times and have never had an issue. We have even dinners in when the building had extreme AC issues during a summer. What happened? Was this waitress so new that she was possibly not trained to keep engaged with her customers? Did she forget it's her job to keep her tables and customers in top shape to retain customers and gain decent to good tips? We would have continued to wait for food if she would have at least...
