Two of the last five times my husband and I ate at this restaurant, it was not worth eating. We thought we would give it another chance. We go for the crab legs. The crab legs were inedible. Soft, wouldn't crack open and super dry. I would not pay 1.00 to eat them. We were going to invite some friends from out of town to go with us I'm thankful we didn't ask. There were a lot of people there and the wait was extremely long even if you wanted to avoid the crab leg line. I ordered a bloody Mary and was brought out tomato puree with ice after waiting ages. My husband said the place has just went down hill since after COVID.. We were wondering if the place had new management or what was going on? Very disappointed after spending 100 dollars and nothing to wash down a dry crab leg Edit: People probably wasted 9 pounds per one of half of a pound that was actually eaten. I am being honest. I cannot believe people didn't complain surely they know what decent crab meat should be like? We did complain about our meals and received 10 percent off our meal, the same as the time before when the crab was terrible. I did read some of the other reviews and you keep saying that people should have asked to speak to you. Why don't you have your staff come on get you when people have a complaint? In the least, don't call people liars when they speak of their experiences or about the food quality. I can assure you the crab was terrible, we tried desperately to find some good pieces and there were very very few. We eat crab often. We know when it's decent quality and when it isn't. I took the time to write this review hoping you would make an attempt correcting problems but it is clear you don't plan to take action. If you don't eat crab yourself you should have someone who does give an honest opinion. P.S. The restaurant does stink as soon as you walk in, it's smells of body odor and not seafood. I mentioned this to my husband upon arriving. The floors are sticky and dirty. It was a challenge to keep my flip flops on...
Read moreI am now a senior citizen. But, I lived in the area until about 15 years ago. I always enjoyed the buffet and drove often about an hour and a half to eat there for decades. I now live in Arizona for last 15 years. This year, June 2021, I returned home for a visit. I took my family (5) to the Back 40, only to be disappointed to find no buffet. Decided since we traveled so far, to go ahead and eat. Quickly it was obvious there was only one other couple eating. Throughout all my years of frequent visits with my family, this was strange. The restaurant was always extremely busy and often a wait to get in, which no one minded because the food and selection was awesome to say the least. But on this date it just wasn't the same. Sure, the food we got was good, but felt it was too pricy. (I spent over $90.00 with three children (2 under 12) and 2 adults. Service was not too good. My 9 year old granddaughter wanted something and finally had to get up and hunt down a Waite staff. None were on the floor and remember only one other couple was there. I thought is was a shame no one was there, especially remembering the way it always used to be so busy. I spoke to a lady at the register, which I believe was either the owner or manager. It was clear there was no future plans for the buffet. She did, however, thank us for staying and eating, as she commented that a lot of people do not stay and leave once they find out the buffet is gone. I don't blame them and wish I had left as well. I now join the feeling, as I will not ever be back. Yes I live out of state, but I have told many people over the years how great this was. Many went and raved about it. Well, sorry to say, no more. It is sad and I feel they fatally shot themselves in the leg with this decision. My guess, it will not last much longer. I am certain the annual revenue has to be way lower. Sadly I must say Good bye. I wish you luck. I was so...
Read moreVery disappointed that the buffet is gone. The menu options are limited. There is a salad bar but you have to give up a side AND pay 2.99 extra for it. I know with Covid some buffets aren’t open BUT if you can have a salad buffet you can have your dinner buffet. Prices are $12.95 + $2.99 for salad bar for lunch and $17.95 + $2.99 for salad bar for dinner. Weekends may be difficult as far as price. We are here on a Wednesday. *In response to the owner’s reply * I didn’t mention service but if you want to bring it up I will. Talk to the older lady with the young girl following her around for training about our experience. First her obvious disappointment that I didn’t choose the salmon. But when our orders arrived my husband had 2 pieces of broccoli. She said they were working on some more. We finished our entire meal and they asked about dessert . Right before our plate of dessert was brought out the broccoli finally arrived. Dessert came about the same time. She said with what happened with the broccoli I didn’t want to give you this small piece so I put the bigger piece on there to but it was cold so I had to nuke it. Don’t burn yourself. Well no fear in that it was still cold. He didn’t eat it he was frustrated by this time. We then go to the register to pay and waited 5 minutes for someone to come and check us out. Another server had to go get someone. This would all be understandable had your place been busy but on a Wednesday afternoon it was not. As for your response a professional business owner would not have gotten on the review with an attitude. A professional would have apologized and explained why the buffet is no longer there and hoped we would give them another chance or something to that effect. Not be defensive and unprofessional in a reply. Have...
