Del Carmen's Pizza — Restaurant in Decatur

I've been waiting for this place to open for 2 years. It was sad to see that restaurant go. I was so excited when they opened the doors at the new location. I went there on the second day of opening ready for that distinct taste of a Del Carmens pizza. Have to say it was a let down. Tasted more like a frozen pizza. Probably will take the oven a little while to get that taste in it. Pizza was under cooked but they were very busy. When I first walked in I noticed that the place was extremely small and can only seat about 10 people. Really tiny. I ordered a 16 inch 3 top like I always do, which is a $20 pizza by the way. Then I tried to use my free 14 inch pizza card to order a second pizza that took the purchase of 8 pizzas to get. Which I finally got after I bought my 8th pizza two weeks before they burnt down. That I kept for two years to redeem when they reopen. Only to find out that they won't be accepting them at this new location. That took $160 to get. So much for being a loyal customer. Says they are a different business because they took the "East" out of their name. But sell the same things as the old one even says " New Location" on thier menu, and even sold me a pizza out of one of the old locations pizza box. If you don't want to use that rewards card fine but at least you can honor the ones that have been kept by loyal customers. I won't be back until I hear that they will honor what we earned. Been waiting to have a good Del Carmen's Pizza for 2 years still waiting sorry they got my order wrong which they offered to make me another Pizza I would have had to wait or add the item that was missing I told them that that wasn't acceptable they did offer to give me a free pizza my next order I'll give him credit for that after getting home and tasting what they're serving as Del Carmen's Pizza I think free is about the only price it's worth the sauce is a different let me correct that the very little sauce that's on it it's different it's not sweet like it was and has a bitter aftertaste the crust isn't the same and doesn't look like there is a handful of toppings I'm really sorry this happened but it is what it is I used to like this much better than Monical's although they were very similar now Monical's is hands above a better Pizza then the new...

I haven't lived in Decatur for almost 25 years, but I still swing by every now and then just to grab a pizza from this place. Insanely good! Great staff. And the fact that you can see directly back into their kitchen speaks volumes-you know it's clean and they practice good food hygiene because you can literally sit there and watch them make your food. A breath of fresh air in today's world!

I love that the pizza is exactly the same as it was when I was a kid. The thin crust is legendary, and the sauce is like crack. Monicals has nothing on Del Carmens!
