Thirty years ago, when we first married, Sunday nights were pizza night with our parents. We could not afford to buy take-out, so Sunday night pizza night was one way for our parents to support us. We had a locally owned pizza place that was THE place for Sunday Night Pizza Night. We have seriously considered driving four hours one way to enjoy it again. We have newly instituted Saturday night Pizza night with our kids this Spring. We are looking for THE place to make Saturday night pizza night a new tradition in our family. These are our experiences based on our likes and dislikes. Pizza is one of those things that everyone has a different favorite. Here is our opinion of…Sloan’s Calzones. The crust is similar to a cracker. We did not dislike the crust, but we also didn’t love it. The sauce was savory which is what we are looking for. It did seem dry, and we would have liked more sauce. We also would have liked more cheese. We ordered the Hawaiian and the Works. I would expect the works to be loaded with toppings and it wasn’t. However, the sausage was a good quality and flavorful. The Hawaiian seemed to lack flavor. This is not what we were looking for and we did not enjoy it enough to order again.
