Subway — Restaurant in Deerfield Township

I almost never go to Subway. I typically go to Jersey Mikes or Jimmy Johns. Today I was reminded why. I walk in shortly after 12PM. There is only 1 lady sitting by the window and a man behind the counter. He wasn't friendly, didn't smile, I'm not even sure if I was greeted. As I'm going down the line telling him what I want the lady was complaining that the soda machine didn't taste right and something was wrong. She mentioned it several times and he just kind of ignored her. We get down to the end of the line and I go ahead and order a fountain drink. I go over and taste just about every carbonated option. Sure enough it was like you were drinking straight carbonated water, but it was still colored like the soda. So I tell him she's right something isn't right and ask if I can get a bottled drink instead. He tells me no. So I proceed to give the fountain drink a couple more tastes and then tell him I can't drink this. I'd like my money back because I'm not spending $3.09 on a pop and having it taste like this. He then tells me to go ahead and get a bottle, but next time he won't do that. He proceeds to tell me that I wouldn't have said anything if it wasn't for that woman complaining and that he's got some guy that comes in every two weeks that checks it. We go back and forth a little bit and I reiterate that the lady isn't just making it up and it doesn't taste right and walk out. I know exactly what is going on here, clearly he (the owner) is limiting the syrup to carbonated water ratio to increase that profit even more. He's got just enough so the color is there, but the taste isn't even remotely close to what it should be. For the most part the food wasn't bad. The bread was clearly a little old as the top and outside was crusting and falling a part. As pointed out in another review the meat did look extremely thin. Another menu item that can easily be manipulated and cut thinner than what is standard to pocket more money. Paying over $16 for a sandwich, chips and a drink for lunch is kind of crazy to have this poor of quality, quantity, and service. Couple other things; if you're wrapping up someone's sandwich and need to cough, walk away, cough and then wash your hands. Also, instead of arguing with the customers maybe acknowledge that they could be right and you'll look into it instead of telling them they're wrong. We ordered a foot long on the app to be picked up curbside. My daughter arrived 10 minutes early and stayed 10 minutes after the order was to be completed (12:35). After waiting she went into Subway to check on it. She said she had placed a curbside order but wanted to pick it up now because she couldn't wait any longer. They asked her for her name and she was then told they didn't have an order. At this point the line was too long and she couldn't wait in line for a new order. Assuming that it was just an app mix up I called the restaurant. I was told by the manager that nobody came in to pick up the order. After speaking with the manager, the owner called me and said they watched the video and that her car was not in the parking lot and nobody fitting her description walked into subway. Oddly he said this when he didn't even have her description. When I asked him how he knew she wasn't in the store since I didn't tell him what she looked like, he then asked for her description. Of course after the second call again he said nobody fit her description. He kept insisting she was at the wrong location even though I have an app that shows me exactly where she was for those 20 minutes. She was at the Lighthouse Way location from 12:24 to 12:45. The woman refused to let me pay with coins, said they had no room for my money. So I left, had to go buy food else where. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! End of the month, lots of people besides me go hungry, at least I have coins. The employees are allowed to pay with coins. I am sure they got alot of coins that day, too; a sandwich is less than 10 dollars. Thanks for the support of a single mother of children with no job because of covid layoff.
