The food was average, at best, and the service, sadly, was less than average. We arrived about 20 minutes before closing, and the waitress was visibly and verbally upset that we were there. Keep in mind, this is a place to mainly get hotdogs and fried sides and sit in your car to eat them. You never go inside the building. The waitress rushed over to us and asked what she could get us, "TO GO" and when we said we hadn't been there before and didn't know the menu, she rolled her eyes, tossed her head back and said, "I'll get you one of the small menus." She brought it back, we decided in about 2 minutes and ordered. The food was nothing to comment on other than to say the hotdog sauce was a pasty texture and not a good flavor. I had one bite and opted to just eat the potato salad instead. The two waitresses from the place locked the building up and literally ran to their cars 1 minute after 8 o'clock closing. It was comical. It must be a great place to work if you literally run away at the end of your shift. In all good conscience, I would not recommend stopping here unless you like substandard food and being...
Read moreWas visiting my hometown last week and talked my nephew into a trip to Jiggs. I promised him it was one of the best spots in town when I was a regular (20+yrs ago). He never left the area, works in Defiance, and said he'd never even heard of it. Now I know why. The manager shouldn't deal with the public at all, let alone a service job. My once upon a time fav (the beef sandwich) now tastes like a generic "manwich"...to be kind. My nephew got a room temp chili cheese dog with cold cheese that clearly had no chance of even softening atop the luke warm chili. He had gastro "issues" within the hour. Throw in the fact it's grossly overpriced for what you get, and it was the perfect storm. I apologized multiple times for insisting we go. Never again. At least I'll always have the memories of the late 90s/early...
Read moreI'll start with the best part. The root beer is so good!! We usually have to grab a gallon to bring home. It just hits differently than anywhere else in town. I was slightly disappointed this season it appeared the chili sauce was changed. It was a different color. The flavor was slightly off. Not bad but not great. I don't like that when using a debit card there is no where on the receipt to leave a tip. It is a great place for a little nostalgia. I have been going to the root beer stand since I was a kid. Gone are the days of goofy golf. I would love if they did that again. It would be fun to experience that with my kids. A Foot long chilli dog with cheese and onion and a bag of Andi Caps has been my favorite thing to get since I was probably old enough to order it. The chicken sandwiches...
