Sizzling Hut — Restaurant in DeForest

SO GOOD! Its the only local Chinese food that we will buy. After trying Chinese from several Chang Jang locations, we feared that Chinese food was off the table unless we were traveling away from home. Then we found Sizzling Hut. Poor reviews left us a little concerned, especially as we were particularly spoiled by the culinary options in our former home: Houston, TX. We are very impressed with a small, family-owned, local shop producing such fantastic fare.

We have ordered many times and food has consistently been well made, ready when we walk-in for pick-up, and we've never had an issue with something wrong in our order (despite the fact that we often ask for variations from the standard dish).

With online ordering to boot, its has made the transition from our former city-living lifestyle just...

It's exactly what you want in a strip mall Chinese place and a star better than average.

Good portions, good prices, and a step above just "good" food. I think they use a bit better quality of ingredients and they know how to properly season their food because everything has good, well rounded flavor and it all executes well, 4 stars for nearly everything so far.

There a couple exceptions though; the soups are all uncommonly good and taste like they were made with real meat stock and have a depth of flavor you rarely encounter outside of homemade, definitely 5 stars for the soup, especially the won ton and hot and sour soup.

The egg rolls get 1 star, bland and forgettable.

A cut above the competition for Madison area Chinese take-out!

We ordered pepper steak, beef with broccoli, and coconut shrimp from the takeout counter. The staff was very friendly, the food was prepared quickly, and the order was complete and well packed.

Best of all, the food tasted great! Higher quality meat with thicker cuts and fresh and well cut vegetables were used in each dish. Unlike competitors, the food didn't taste like it had been dropped in a deep frier prior to entering the wok. The cuts of meat were generous, the vegetables fresh, and the flavors spot-on. The portions were perfect.

The dining area could use a bit of polish and some music would certainly be nice, but as far as take-out goes, Sizzling Hut...
