Arandas — Restaurant in DeForest

We saw reviews and heard good things about this place so we decided to try it our for ourselves! The hype is correct, food was delicious! We ordered a thing of the queso cheese with warm chips and salsa to munch on as an appetizer. Salsa was very tasty so we were off to a good start. My daughter got chicken strips and smiley face fries. Mom ordered the chicken chimichanga with green sauce and I ordered a Molcajete. Mom said hers was awesome and flavors tasted fresh, she just wished it was a little bigger. It was lunch time so it may have been a smaller lunch portion! In mom's defense it pretty dinky! My Molcajete was out of this world! I asked for no nopales (cactus), but extra green onion bulbs which they were happy to do for me. It was filled with meat, shrimp, chorizo, steak, chicken, onions, peppers and mushrooms. Mmmmmm. Positives: Food came out super fast, food was hot, food tasted very fresh, great flavors, service with a smile, reasonably priced food, except the margarita! Great small town Mexican joint. Negatives: Menus were very dirty and gross to touch, we felt like we all needed to wash hands after ordering, Margarita was horrible and it cost $7.50 came out looking like slimmer green color and way to sweet mix flavors. I didn't complain just drank it. My only other complaint is that our receipt didn't explain any of the charges on it. So then you feel bad asking for.a translation of all the charges. Which is was accurate, but would like to know what I'm paying exactly. So we both decided we would enjoy visiting this place again. We want to explore more of their menu items. When my husband and I first moved to the area we were thrilled there was an amazing Mexican restaurant so close to our apartment. We ate there many times, even decided to have our Valentines dinner there. We ate there today and were so disappointed. The staff was kind of rude and didnt treat us like paying customers. Our waitress missed the tostada I ordered. She didnt check in to see if everything was going good and didnt refill our drinks(even though she walked by many times). On their menu it says you get two free baskets of chips and salsa, when we asked for our second basket the guy said, rather rudely, that we only get one for free. We let it go. During our dinner the kitchen door was constantly being slammed against my seat and it was very uncomfortable. The beef was a lot saltier than normal and wasnt very good. My husband ordered a quesadilla and when he got it, all the cheese was in the middle, instead of spread through out the whole thing. The cheese wasnt melted all the way either. After we were done eating it took the waitress 15 minutes to get us our check(again even though she walked by several times). When our check was finally handed to us we were over charged. We were charged $3.50 for each taco. I asked to see a menu, just to check, and the tacos are $1.95. After a good amount of time they finally fixed it. I was still upset about our experience because we loved it there. Sad to say we wont be eating...

I came because even that I live in Sun Praire I have heard people say that it is so good that it is worth the drive, well it was not so good. I ordered Parrillada, and while it had a good amount of different meats, they were all seasoned the same, so everything tasted the same, I mean flavor was not bad but was not good either, had a hint of a spice and everything was the same: the steak same flavor as the chicken and the pork and chorizo. On the other hand the shrimp was apparently cooked separate because it was in a stick, kabob style, but the shrimp was without any flavor.

So it is normal Americanized Mexican food, nothing special about it.

Service also was a mixed bag, as the server was very good and friendly, but then he had a mistake on the ticket, nothing wrong with that, but I came to the counter to fix it and the owner or manager was there making lines in a whiteboard and never came to see what I needed even when he saw me, and then looked angry at me for being there waiting. He ended up calling another server who was not able to fix the problem because he was not my server, so I spend like 10 minutes trying to...
