This is a special restaurant and holds a spot close to my heart. The Lincoln Inn is my gold standard for breakfast spots. No other place compares to the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. We loved the Lincoln Inn enough that we came here every other Sunday for two years. I would get coffee and the Lincoln Inn Special (two eggs, bacon, sausage[links or patties], hashbrowns, and toast).

First of all, I have never seen a restaurant before or since with the option of both bacon and sausage without having to order one on the side. Second, the toast is from their bakery. This makes SUCH a huge difference. It is soft, light, and delicious. Toasting the bread gives it a nice crunch and flavor. Their coffee is fresh-ground. A lot of work goes into their food, and you can tell it is made with care.

Their staff is another huge part of the appeal to me. One time we walked to Lincoln Inn on a cold (-10F) morning and our waitress asked us if we needed help warming up and brought us coffee as soon as we walked in. She kept those cups full the whole morning. I always noticed that the wait staff would go above and beyond to make sure everything was great for you.

On top of all of that, they have a rewards program that is free to sign up for. Besides rewards points, this included emails with coupons for free cinnamon rolls, birthday meals, or free drinks.

We moved out of state and unfortunately don't get back very often, especially before they close for the day. We regularly talk about the breakfast, the people, and the memories we have here. Ugh, I love the...

After hearing great things about the Lincoln Inn my husband and I decided to venture out in the cold this morning. Google map takes you to a closed down town restaurant, I looked up the address listed and found under Fernando's. We were impressed at the look and size of inside. we were seated and approached multiple times about coffee, we don't drink coffee, we asked for water. I ordered bacon and eggs, my husband a skillet. after waiting approximately 25 minutes, I stopped are waiter and asked about are food?and a water refill. mind you there were only 3 tables with customers when we went In two larger groups came in and ordered after us. they had gotten there food. the owner looked are way many times, I finally after another 5 plus minutes said can we get our food. and hear it comes cold as can be, no reason as to why it took so long or an offer to re do it. waiter just kept saying sorry. I blamed him and the owner. told Waiter it was are first time and so disappointed,. food...

We’ve been loyal customers for years. We were very Disappointed with today’s experience. 3 of us were escorted through the kitchen to some weird back room and seated at flimsy card table! There was no covering on the tiny table it was awkward and uncomfortable. It made us feel like second class guests in a place we always considered welcoming. There was plenty of seating in the main part of the restaurant so were insulted to be shoved in the back room. Plus the unadorned all-purpose-room only offers a view of the kitchen and the wait staff station, so it was hot! It was really tacky. We won’t be back for breakfast. The food is great and wait staff excellent, but that doesn’t mean you can shove small parties off to the side no matter what the reason. Yes, we did complain about the seating and we were told something about how the wait staff is arranged, which frankly should not be a concern to guests.I’m sad for this experience because I really loved the Lincoln...

THE LINCOLN INN located in the back side of Faranda's at 302 Grove St, DeKalb, IL 60115. Checked out The Lincoln Inn while in town for camp at the college. It's a nice spot, and the food was good. We started with two cups of cream of chicken rice soup and was surprised that this bakery didn't offer rolls with the soup, so I chose to use the toast from the meal I ordered. It worked perfectly. I will add that soup was served barely lukewarm. Not ideal, but we ate it. Next, we ordered a Tuna Melt with fries and a Lincoln Inn Special. We both agreed the food was good. Our server was very nice. She was attentive and assisted when asked. We also ordered the Strawberry Crepes to go. But we couldn't stop there, lol. While at the register, there were cinnamon rolls and pecan rolls, so we grabbed one of each. We enjoyed those a little later while we waited for our child who was at the camp. Both were delicious! Food was delicious, and service was friendly, accurate to requests, and efficient. But if you sit at Sunday lunch (12:30) with people who are finished in a few minutes and you're not, be prepared to have everyone else's dishes cleared, a take-home box brought, and check paid and processed as efficiently as a pit crew at the Indy 500. After a twenty-five minute wait from ordering, all was cleared and done thirteen minutes from food hitting the table. Staff said "take your time" and didn't give me a box to take home because I was actively eating with 2/3 of my meal to go, but eating becomes joyless and difficult when service for the rest of your party is so rapid it causes anxiety, and your food becomes tasteless because your mouth is now dry, since every action but words indicates you need to get going - even if you came for an enjoyable meal out with the family. They did let me sit there to finish my now sadly tasteless meal. And they weren't slow.
