Decent and basic breakfast options. Eggs were cooked perfectly! Interesting decor as well. The place celebrates police and firemen with patches and memorabilia from all over. I docked it two stars for two reasons: 1) service was a bit slow. It took a while for them to take our order and no one came by with a coffee refill. 2) it’s cash only. There’s simply no excuse to be cash only in this day and age. At least take digital payments.
Edit: I appreciated the story behind this cafe, which you can read about in the menu, but after the response to this review I won’t be making a stop here again. The owners response to this review honestly makes me want to remove another star, but I’m not going to. 3 stars is not a bad review and I don’t appreciate the implication that I was lying about not being offered a coffee refill. There were empty tables in the restaurant the day we ate there, so they were either understaffed (possible for a holiday weekend) or the waitresses are not as efficient as the owners believe. Either way, after failing to catch a waitresses eye to ask for a coffee refill through the entire meal it seemed pointless to mention it upon leaving as at that point it was too late to drink a second cup of coffee with my food.
It’s ok to not get things perfect, but don’t make excuses and insult your customers for feeling like their experience wasn’t...
Read moreMy wife, stepdaughter, and a couple friends (party of 5) dined in today. It was awful from the start. The owner sat us, and asked where my wife was (she was still in the car but coming inside in a few minutes). I said that she’s close, and he rudely asked “how close is CLOSE?”…? Why would that matter in the first place?? I said she’s in the parking lot and that shut him up. While eating, there was a vent right over us on the ceiling that was leaking dirty condensation water, and it dripped into my wife’s drink and food. She wanted to let the owner know (we did NOT want nor ask for any compensation of any kind). If I owned a restaurant, I’d want to know if condensation was dripping into my customers’ drinks and food. He was very rude about being let known though. “Not to sound rude, but you’ve all been sitting here for 45 minutes and you’re just now deciding to let me know?” I was very thrown off. I finally said, “We just wanted to bring it to your attention.” He was very rude to us. Look at the other reviews about the owner! I’m certainly not the only one who thinks he’s rude. My wife has been coming here for many years, but after today, we’ll never return. The food was also horrible and very overpriced. Bland cafeteria food, to be precise. I hope the owner sees this review and comments rudely to it. It will just show the public the kind of...
Read moreCame in, food was okay. Things have definitely changed for the worse, waitresses look moody especially the one with piercings and I hate how the old man in the corner looks at me while I eat, don’t know if he’s a worker or possibly the owner. The muffins are definitely NOT homemade and taste like food lion muffins.
Edit: Oh Im sure you think those muffins are homemade but my taste buds say otherwise (perhaps try changing the recipe idk, it’s a bit old and outdated like your restaurant ). And if the “old man in the corner” was you, then that explains the staring. Glad the staff’s happy though, can’t say the same for the customers
Second edit:
Thanks for the invite, but I’ll respectfully decline. I would’ve mentioned it in person if the goal was improvement, but when feedback is met like a challenge instead of an opportunity to do better, a polite heads-up online helps future customers. Maybe consider updating the muffins and I’ll think about coming back when they actually taste homemade. Going back and fourth with people who bought from your business online really shows the type of owner you...
