We were very unhappy when pulling into parking lot after dark and with the hostess. She was very rude from word one. We let her know the lights in the parking lot weren't on (very dark night) and the sign was not lit up. She quickly retorted well no one has had time to turn them on. We then gave our name for the list, and she quoted us 20 minutes, no problem, but at 30 minutes we went to ask and she was rude, curt and a bit nasty. She told I could have sat you but the kitchen is backed up about an hour and you would just wait for food anyway. We said that was fine since standing is difficult for my friend. At the same time she telling us she was telling another family. She say them and then didn't come back to the stand for 8 more minutes. When asked if we could please be seated she promptly and rudely let us know she told us she wasn't seating anyone since the kitchen was backed up. I reminded her she said she could sit us and the wait at the table was fine. She snapped back with I never said that, when I took your name I told you there was a long wait. I again reminded her she had given us a 20 minute time frame and as I was reminding her of the conversation a few minutes earlier she turned away from us and talked to another couple. We were getting ready to leave but decided to let the manager know about her attitude (45 minute mark). He came out, shook his head, told us they had an unusual amount of take out orders which put the kitchen behind and did apologize. He asked us to stay and sat us down with in 5 minutes. After he sat us, low and behold, all these other people who had been there way longer than needed were being seated too. There were so many people in the store waiting you couldn't move. None of the customers food took very long to come out, there were at least 8 servers that I counted working. I don't believe what happened should have and I absolutely don't think she should have that rude. We visit Cracker Barrel quite often, especially when we travel and this has...
Read moreI don't title my reviews but I'm making an exception to this one. It's called Chicken and Fishkits.
I've dined at other Cracker Barrels and it's usually a pretty consistent experience. Upon entering through the country store this one appeared to be no different. Little did I know about the disgusting disappointment which awaited. When I travel I like to support and sample local businesses and that includes restaurants. I don't usually eat at chain restaurants unless either desperate or there's no choice. This time was an exception. I was in the mood for Chicken and Dumplings. What better place to get it than Cracker Barrel, right? WRONG! I and a friend ordered the Loaded Hashbrown Casserole Tots. Those were a bit on the soft side but good. I ordered the Chicken and Dumplings with Fried Apples and Green Beans. So for the good, the Fried Apples were great, the Green Beans tasted like canned beans boiled in water, and here's where the positive ends. Dinner took quite a while to come out but that's not the worst of it. Unfortunately my Chicken and Dumplings came out. The chicken was nicely cooked and tender but there was this taste. I thought maybe it's just not getting along with my lemonade. Eventually I came to the conclusion that it wasn't that. I even tried it with the dumplings. Ugh. I gave a sample to my friend and was told it tasted like whitefish. Yup. I was thinking fish too. It took so long to come out and I had eaten a little trying to ignore it. It wasn't a good idea to send it back at this point so I renamed this dinner Chicken and Fishkits and called it a night. I had enough and could eat no more so I stopped. Nasty stuff and I won't be coming back to this mistake again.
Wow. I just noticed this fun photo my iphone created for me when I attempted to do a pano shot of the dining room. That poor lady sitting at the nearest table was not wearing an arm holding a beverage attached to...
Read moreCracker Barrel – Very Disappointing Experience
We had a really poor experience at this Cracker Barrel location yesterday. It started with us joining the waitlist through the app, which said we’d have a 20-minute wait. We arrived in under 15 minutes, but when my wife checked in, they told her we’d need to wait another 20 minutes — so much for the app’s accuracy.
Once we were finally seated, we waited 13 more minutes before anyone came to take our order — and it was the manager, who apologized and only took our drink order. When my wife let him know we were ready to order (after staring at the menu for over half an hour), he said he couldn’t take it because he didn’t have a notepad. Really?
He returned with our drinks and a notepad to take the order. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Smokestack Burger. It took over 20 minutes to get our food, and when it arrived, my burger was missing the top bun because it had been dropped on the way to the table. I had to wait another 5 minutes to get a new one — and it was cold.
By then, I’d eaten my fries (they were the best part of the meal). But the burger? The patty and bottom bun were warm, but the bacon and crispy onions were cold. My son ordered the same burger and had the same issue — cold toppings.
We also had to ask for napkins multiple times.
Overall, the service was really disappointing, and I suspect they were short-staffed. Nearly half the tables were empty, yet they were still telling people there would be a 20 to 40-minute wait. That just doesn’t make sense.
We usually enjoy Cracker Barrel, but this experience was frustrating from start to finish. Not sure we’ll be coming back to this location...
