My review is 100% based on customer service, so it might not be useful to somebody looking for food evaluation. Last Friday we wanted to try out this new restaurant in our area. Again it was Friday and it was around 5:40pm. We got there and it looked like it was on fire in a good way. It looked busy and in constant movement. We were told by hostess (?) the wait will be around 20-25mins and we agreed to wait. They took our phone number and a text confirmed our spot in waiting list. We stayed in the entrance/foyer area and kept looking through the menu to waist some time and be ready. After exactly 20mins another hostess (?) told another family that just walked in the the wait will be 2hrs. Just for context the restaurant looked busy but already had a couple empty tables which we figured were for reservations and we were fine with that! It also looked like it was winding down a little too so “2hr wait” sounded more like “get out and we don’t even want you on a waiting list”. Every restaurant is winding down after 6pm..it can be busy but most people are already there. Mind you there were no other people waiting inside but only our family of 3. Maybe others were in their cars I don’t know and at this point I don’t care because right then (after yawning and looking bored) a hostess looked at us and asked if we were on the waiting list and then said that they won’t be able to seat us any time soon. It felt so wrong on so many levels!! Just because of inexperienced high-school aged hostess I will never give this restaurant a chance. Of course it opened up a week or so before we visited and employees still need to gel together and get used to things. But that’s all it took for me…make us wait almost the whole time promised and then tell us we can’t seat you. We were there with a seven year old and would’ve been nice to get a respectful treatment from staff. Even knowing the details why all this might’ve happened..i will not be wishing luck to this new restaurant. To owners: train your employees and be present…they are the face of your establishment. And last Friday on the 7th of March that...
Read more2 months since SoHo Slice opened, been waiting til they got a bit more settled, as we heard many problems. Evenings the parking lot has been packed and ppl often turned away, so we went about 3:30 Sat afternoon. 1st problem: NO pizza by the SLICE. (Wait, what?) Server Lizabeth said don't worry, pizzas are small, only 4 slices each! Asked about size of calamari app (whether a lot for one or must share): she said not so much, but definitely shareable(?). 🤔 🤪
"Hot Italian" pizza had plenty of pepperoni, but the Roasted Veg needs to be renamed to Mushroom. Veg Pizza is the LAST thing I'd call it: a very sparse sprinkling of red onion, many garlic cloves, only half the pie had some chopped red pepper, and way too many dry mushrooms (see pic). No real sauce of any kind perceptible and no other "vegetables". We ended up putting a slice of one pie on top of the other like a sandwich, which vastly improved the taste of both.
Crust was thin, with nice char, but completely flavorless. Maybe dough needed salt? I make better pizza crust at home with Caputo 00 flour, baked on my steel.
"Service" mostly absent. When server took drink order, I said I'd start with a water, then we'll see what else after that... I even asked to keep the menu so I could choose. We ordered food from the waitress, but a runner(male) delivered to table. Never saw her again -- would have liked to order a real drink, and I really needed a water refill before my pizza even arrived. My husband would have liked a second drink... But she never came back, except with the check! I'm now seeing reviews that mention dessert -- would have loved to known, and been able to try the tiramisu.
Does Rehoboth Beach need yet another pizza place? Prolly not. This place was okay, but for $18 per small pizza with uneven toppings that're only meh... it's a toss up... However the lousy service (when the place was mostly empty) doesn't make me want to...
Read moreI visited Soho Slice Pizzeria in Rehoboth last night for dinner and had a mixed experience.
Upon arrival, the first thing I noticed was the all-black décor. It gave the place a darker, somewhat uninviting feel. That said, the host was very kind. I did make a reservation, as I was told they wouldn’t seat anyone without a reservation, we were seated rather quickly, which I appreciated.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the menu—especially as someone who is gluten-free. They do offer a cauliflower crust (which I’m grateful for), but beyond that, there were only two maybe 3 other gluten-free options on the menu. None of the pastas are gluten-free, and the pizza choices were pretty limited, especially if you’re not a fan of cream-based sauces (which I’m not).
I opted to build my own pizza. While I liked having that option, the pricing was a bit much—there’s an initial charge for the base, then extra charges for each topping and again for the gluten-free crust. The pizza itself was decent. The crust was crispy (I’d give it a 7/10, mostly because cauliflower crust isn’t my favorite). The sauce was okay but a bit bland, and unfortunately there were large parts of the pizza without any sauce at all. That said, the pepperoni ratio was spot on.
Another draw back was, No Procecco. That was a bummer for an Italian restaurant.
The atmosphere was another drawback. The music was incredibly loud—we found ourselves shouting over it, which made it tough to have a conversation, even with just the two of us. It was a Sunday night and not very crowded, which surprised me a bit.
On the positive side, our waitress was very attentive and kind, and that definitely made the experience better. This place used to be a go-to because of the convenient location, and I had high hopes for enjoying it again. But with the limited gluten-free options and loud environment, I probably won’t be...
