This is a great place for happy hour specials and their carnita fajitas. Their portions are huge, so plenty for leftovers. I must spend this time giving less of a food review and more of an experience review as our party was pretty offended and disappointed by management. I give this place 4 stars for food, but 1 star for overall experience. As stated above, we came to try out their happy hour specials, so we asked to sit in the bar area upstairs and we were immediately seated at a table right next to the bar. Upon ordering, we were told that they would not serve us happy hour items if we were sitting in the bar area. We must sit at the bar (which had no seats) or go outside and sit at the tiny high top tables (not suitable for 4 people). We asked to speak with a manager (a younger female) and she too reiterated the same sentiment. We asked if she would reconsider us staying at a normal table as the high top chairs outside were very uncomfortable for us and could not fit the four of us. She refused and walks away, again telling us it's our choice how we would like to be served. At this point, we were ready to walk out of the restaurant due to her flip attitude and inability to make an acception for us when the waiter came back and said you can sit outside at the bottom of stairs (basically in the parking lot by the front door of the restaurant). So we checked it out and it was fine, so we decided to stay. At this point we all sit down and we are about to order and my husband makes a riveting observation, why the hell do you have a happy hour but seat people furthest from the bar? Most restaurants and bars require you to sit in the bar area to be served, but rest assured; your happy hour party of 4 will take place at a 24" round high top table suitable for only two people, or at a full bar without your whole party sitting together or your in the parking lot with car engines starting up a foot from your head. So, I can only be honest with the experience and that was the truth to what it was. I think management needs to be a bit more flexible to larger parties coming in for happy hour and maybe have a more respectful and resourceful approach to the customers coming in to your restaurant. We are still in a pandemic and a lot of restaurants have gone out of business. Possibly consider a different approach or you may find your customers will happily go elsewhere, where their business would be appreciated. I will update this review as we will try this again...
Read moreParking was easy for us, but I'm sure it's rough when it gets busy. You have to find the place first, which is a little confusing.
This is part of the SoDel Concepts group of restaurants. Pretty large place, looks like a barn. They have downstairs and upstairs seating areas. The bar is upstairs, and they have a patio overlooking the water where you can sit. The place has all kinds of quirky decorations, but I enjoyed that. The service at this place is top notch!!! They were so quick to help us at the bar, like a well oiled machine. This was the #1 highlight of the trip.
I ordered a Sol bottle, it was cool, not cold, but of course I drank it anyway. I later tried a house marg. It was beautiful, and tart as hell. Really just made me sad.
Chips & Salsa!!! Chips...ok, could hold a topping, were room temp. Salsa...had a little smokey weird flavor in there, chunky texture. Not good, not terrible, kinda just meh.
I ordered Street Corn: Cotija, crema, red chile dust, sea salt, & cilantro. $7 The flavors in here are good. I just wish they used a fresher piece of corn. I'm not even mad honestly. They spared no expense with that cheese either.
I ordered tacos 2 per order choosing the short rib with cilantro & onions. Served with rice and beans. $13. The tacos send me straight to the desert. The flavors were good in the meat, but the texture was just like an overcooked pot roast. The corn tortillas weren't anything special either. The rice and beans were served in a cup with the pintos on the bottom, rice on top. I suggest you mix them up right away because the rice was hard and dry. The beans weren't memorable for me either. The price point for 2 tacos that are sub par, is...
Read moreI used to love going to the Papa Grande's in Rehoboth Beach as everyone there was super friendly and the food and drinks were great. I suggested to some friends that we meet here at the one in Fenwick as we were all staying nearby. Unfortunately that was a big mistake on my part. I went there with a friend and we got there ahead of the two other people that we were joining. We asked for a table for for upstairs on the deck. The hostess said they could not see this until all of our party was there. I understand that some restaurants have this policy. As we were waiting for our table two people arrive and they were seated at one of the tables that we would have loved to a sat at it was a table for four. Went in and asked the waitress if we could go ahead and be seated and once again she said no. I asked her what was the difference between the two of us sitting down ordering a couple of drinks and some food while we are waiting for the other party and the table of 2 that is sitting at a table for four. The only response she had was that is the way it works. Another hostess came out and we stopped her and she said us at a table on the side of the upper deck right in front of the kitchen Grill exhaust fan. There is no way for four people to sit at this table as everytime a sever went by we would have to get up and move our chairs so they could pass by. We finally went downstairs and told them we had moved to a table for four that had more room for us. I think at the end of our experience the manager came by and she was very nice we did not say anything to her about the situation but I guess in hindsight we should have as it does not make sense to me still...
