Smoke's Smokehouse — Restaurant in Delaware

Smoke is incredible! I traveled from NY to try some food. We reached on Saturday, but made it too late so we decided to go back on Sunday. I was very excited to try the food, especially upon arrival, I saw Smoke behind the smoker. On Sunday, I reached by 2 and saw that serving would begin at 3. We waited in the truck to be first to get served since the line for food can pick up very quickly. We didn't want to take the chance of leaving our place on line. To create order and organization, there is a ticket system in place. You must take a ticket and your number will be called to advance. Because ppl started coming in, Smoke personally approached our truck and handed us our ticket for being first on line. He was also courteous to let us know that he would be making a run to superstore and would be back shortly.

Service time: we ordered half rack rib platter with a large side of Mac and cheese. The platter also comes with cornbread. Would you believe Smoke upgraded is to Full rack and extra cornbread for the wait? That was amazing! I am so grateful for that because THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!! The ribs were so tender that it was falling off the bone. The sweet sauce and spicy sauce...yummy!!! I had to lick my fingers. I was so happy we were able to get Smoke's. The travel was so worth it, Smoke, and I look forward to trying other dishes off the menu.

If you are able to get to DE, Smoke's Smokehouse is a MUST TRY. I will be back,...

We (three adults) ordered a full rack of ribs with a large Mac&Cheese, Potato Salad, and 3 corn breads. We also ordered a Brisket Sandwich (bread on the side). The ribs were delicious; as others have previously described; after 12-16 hours of slow smoking, the meat falls off the bones. The ribs were served with our choice of sweat, spicy (mild), and very spicy 'habanero’ sauce (we did not try this last choice). Likewise, the Mac&Cheese is made in the smoker and inherits a wonderfully deep, woodsy flavor. Finally, the potato salad stood up well to the smoky BBQ; not only did it greatly satisfy. it also cleared our taste buds for that next tender morsel. A grand & filling lunch with enough leftover for one more person (Note: the corn bread was factory-made and came in a clear plastic wrap - not bad, but definitely not as good as the food it accompanied)

The owner was patient and helpful. When we asked for 1/2 pint of brisket (he serves sandwiches, not pints), he offered to "make" the sandwich with the bread on the side and promised we would be satisfied by the amount of meat it came with... he was right. When my family could not decide between sweet and spicy sauces on the ribs, he offered to serve each 1/2 rack with a different sauce. Finally, although the full rack only comes with 2 corn breads, he gave us one extra piece because there were three of us (a kind gesture).

I have been passing this place for years and was eager to finally get a chance to try it. Mr. Smoke was extremely down to earth and that made my first experience so much better. Wish I would have gotten there earlier(which next time I will!) because when I got there he only had one small brisket sandwich for me to get (which I am so grateful he gave me for free!!) Overall I had a great deal and a lot of food for the price I paid as I got the whole rack of rib combo with two sides and cornbread as well. Wow… the cornbread is probably the best I have ever had as it was so moist and sticky. And the ribs were delicious and smoky and falling off the bone with each bite. My only downfall about it was that I feel as though it was too much sauce for my liking and it was too sweet (even though I got spicy) it wasn’t spicy at all to me I guess because my spice level is so high, and I am not used to eating so much sugar so it seemed a little too sweet, but hey it’s BBQ and that’s what I did expect. Next time I will for sure order the spicy bbq on the side so I can add what I like. Overall I loved it and will be back for more… earlier in the day of course!!! Thanks again for a great experience...
