About a month ago a friend blessed my office staff one day by bringing us pastries from Maison Bouchard. Mind you, I had never heard of them before that. I ate the only croissant in the box and wanted to eat another one. Best croissant I've ever had!! So, I called the bakery and inquired as to whether or not they made authentic sourdough bread (it's made without yeast.) To my surprise, they said yes. So, I special ordered some sourdough bread. One loaf for me and one to take to my sister in Rhode Island, who is also a big sourdough bread lover. They informed me that they normally make the sourdough on Saturday. But when I told them I was flying up North that next Saturday on a very early flight, they were so accommodating that they offered to make it on Friday and let me pick it up right before closing time. I froze my loaf and packed my sister's loaf and blessed my sister and her husband with it. They didn't start eating the bread until I left due to us all eating out while I was there celebrating my nephew's graduation. Both my sister and her husband LOVED the bread but my brother in law was a little peeved and his comment was "ok, so I've had this most delicious bread and when it's all gone, I can't go buy anymore, because it's made in Delray Beach Florida and I live in Newport RI. They're coming to visit for Thanksgiving so I'm most positive they will be visiting Maison Bouchard for ALL their amazing goodies!! Meanwhile, I've already called them to order more bread. Stop by, you won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love it!!!! Let me start by saying I am borderline diabetic (insulin resistance). Meaning: Iām not supposed to set foot on a bakery. Iām also wearing a CGM (constant glucose monitor) to help me keep track of the foods that (literally) hurt me by spiking my glucose (youād be surprised of all the hidden sugar and carbs). That being said, this place gave me the chance to live a little š„¹
I tried the chocolate croissant fully aware that I was making a mistake but I told myself it was just a bite (spoiler alert: I ate the whole thingš„²) it was SO DELICIOUS. Last time I had a PLAIN croissant was from Whole Foods and my glucose spiked to 170 and stayed up for about 4 hours. So imagine my surprise when after two hours of eating a CHOCOLATE croissant my glucose only went up to 140! And after two hours came back to be under 120 (which is my goal during the day). I was about to cry out of pure happiness. š„¹ā¤ļø
Iām not saying I can eat them every day or have more than one per day but itās definitely something I can have once a week without regrets.
I am saying that I finally found a bakery that bakes with REAL ingredients (because in my mind the only plausible explanation is that thereās nothing unnecessary added that makes my body read to it).
I definitely recommend this place and for sure Iāll be a regular...

I have never had such an awful experience at a cafĆ©, especially with a baby in tow. I was the first person in line, but somehow, that didnāt seem to matter. A couple (one of them named Michelle) came in after me, and they got served right away, while I was told to wait. Really? I have a baby with me, and they couldnāt even show basic courtesy?
It took 15 minutes to get my order, and when I finally did, the food was absolutely terrible. Cold, bland, and clearly not fresh. How can you mess up so badly after making someone wait that long? The service was rude, unorganized, and they clearly donāt care about their customers.
I will NEVER be coming back, and I donāt recommend this place to anyone. Save your time and money, and go somewhere that actually values...
