This is the best mid-cape restaurant. Best suited for large groups, families, active children this is the destination for your sunburned and overtired crew. The first think you should know is this place is LOUD. Between the music, acoustics and occasional live singer the volume is loud. If you have a sleeping baby or toddler ask to be seated on the enclosed back deck. Don't come HANGRY. There may be an hour+ wait. Chapin's generously offers unlimited serve yourself free popcorn which is a must do for our kids. A grassy side yard affords a fine place to run, meet other children and stretch out the sillies before dinner.
Before our kids we came here as a younger couple this place was called Clancy's Fish and chips. We saw NO problems when it changed hands. As a couple we always ate at the bar. Bar service is excellent and there are very nicely made margaritas. The beer is disappointing . - more macro than micro but this is typical of Cape Cod.
Must eats: Buffalo tenders: the sauce is light and elegant. We believe there is secret dill in the sauce. Cobb salad or House salad with a lobster claw + steak tips. I dream about his dinner all winter and that keeps me coming back. Fried everything - clams, shrimp, onion rings - all are great. Kid's menu is extensive and will accommodate all fussy eaters.
Vegetarian - plenty of options! GF - assume all friers have gluten exposure. Call ahead in the daytime to ask.
Bathrooms are always tidy but weirdly hot. I do not know if there is a changing table in the men's room, there is in the ladies.
Furniture - Large heavy wood that is very comfortable and accommodated me + occasional sleeping toddlers while I tried to shovel food over their heads.
We've been coming 1 - 4 times ever summer since 2017. In2018 we preordered $900 of take out and fed our all of our wedding guests a welcome to down dinner.
If you can possibly fit 300 more calories there is an over the top ice cream shop called Sunday School...
Read moreOn vacation in Dennis we spotted this place. Only one person in the party liked seafood so we needed a place that catered to both. This place had a full gamut of options. From pub food, sandwiches, burgers, salads and entrees. They have specials of all kinds. Our party started with mozzarella stocks and chicken tenders. Hard to mess up. Both were standard fried varieties. We had a kids steak tips which looked amazing. One order of pulled pork sandwich which was delicious and heaping order. An adult steak tip order as well as the Cobb salad. Their version had standard ingredients and some lobster and shrimp. Everything was enjoyable. We sat outside so everything came in paper takeout style. It is a full service restaurant though. We enjoyed the outdoor picnic area due to little ones. It was a family atmosphere out there. There is cornhole set up so kids can leave their parents alone. Food was served quick. Waitstaff was pleasant. Most of the help were young high school and college aged kids. We had so much food we were able to have leftovers the following day. Good place to visit for a quick yummy meal. There was a full bar menu and a band playing inside. It seems to be a favorite among locals...
Read moreThe “Chip” has been one of our favorites for years. Their food continues to be consistently good, although much smaller portions lately. Yesterday was another disappointment. We arrived at 7:40 and put our name in for seating. We were told 25 min, which is understandable given the time and popularity of the restaurant. At 8:40 I went to check on our status, and was told there was a major problem in the kitchen and we would t be seated for at least another 25 min. I asked how long ago this occurred, and the manager told me about 30 min ago. I am a reasonable person and understand things happen. But they invested in a reservation/ text system to communicate with people who were waiting. Don’t you think someone with half a brain would have said - hey, we have a big delay here- let’s inform everyone who is waiting so they can make an informed decision to stay or go BEFORE ALL THE OTHER RESTAURANTS IN TYE AREA CLOSED!!! Fail for lack of customer service. The manager offered a gift certificate, which I declined as I was not interested in being comped - just to have one of our favorite restaurants to keep their service levels high instead of falling into the...
