I live year round on Cape Cod and breakfast is my favorite meal - I'd eat it any time of day. And I especially love Eggs Benedict. Because I'm always looking for a different breakfast places, I was doing a search for breakfast places and Grumpy's came up as the best place for breakfast on Cape Cod so decided to go.

There was a line outside, which was not surprising since it is summer and it was a Sunday morning. Line moved quickly - about 30 mins and someone "worked the line" for different parties. The experience after that went downhill.

We sat at the counter, which was fine. I ordered eggs benedict w/ sausage patties and hash browns (you are given the choice of hash browns, baked beans or home fries). When the food arrived it was SWIMMING in runny hollandaise and the hash browns were something I would have gotten at McDonald's. As a result of the runny hollandaise sauce, everything on my plate was soggy.

So in my opinion, not the best place for breakfast on Cape Cod. I have had much better breakfasts at Keltic Kitchen or The Daily Paper. And to be quite honest, I've had better breakfast at IHOP! Sorry Grumpy's...I was pretty grumpy...

When we go out to eat, it's because we want to taste good tasting food made with relatively good ingredients. It's like when we get a hotel room we expect a comfortable bed so we can get a good night's sleep. While the service was wonderful, the completely open floorplan makes for a very noisy environment. The business model is obviously to pack in as many people as they can and turn tables fast while using bottom of the barrel ingredients. Meanwhile the overwhelming stench of sewage emanating throughout the parking lot is already off-putting while waiting in line for a table. We can't understand the high reviews. Do people's taste buds work anymore? The coffee literally tastes like cardboard. How hard would it be to get the organic Sumatra coffee in bulk from BJ's so people can enjoy what they are sipping? Croissant not buttered for sandwich, home fries essentially flavorless except for the burnt Canola oil flavor, not even salted, bag to fryer hash browns, no care put into it. For the 4 of us it was $96 with tip for 4 basic breakfasts that left us...

EDITED TO ADD: Becca is great! She's always smiling and friendly. I am always happy to see her face when I come in. ☺️

I get my breakfast here, on my way to work, on mornings when I don't have enough time to cook.

Whoever made my breakfast today (8:55am Thursday 8/7/25) did a phenomenal job. I know, all I got was a bacon, egg and cheddar on a grilled English muffin, but it's this person who made me love this place the very first time I got food from here. The English muffin was grilled to perfection, the egg wasn't overcooked, the bacon was crispy and delicious but not too hard or anything. My hash brown was golden brown and crispy. It was legit, perfect. Thanks guys, for reminding me of why I love this food.

I wish I got the name of the girl who took my order because she deserves credit, too! She made sure my order was made exactly how I asked. Thanks a bunch! You guys are the best! I know it gets super busy there and you guys are probably stressed out, often. Thanks for providing delicious food...

Normally a 5 star meal but I still had a good breakfast here. Of course, the fan favorites are the muffins (be sure to ask for them grilled!). This time, I got a chocolate chip muffin and a blueberry streusel muffin. Both excellent and the best part of the meal. For my breakfast, I got the breakfast burrito and my dad got an egg white omelette. The omelette was okay, but the way Grumpy’s makes theirs isn’t the greatest. We also split the cinnabun pancakes that were just a bit too sweet. My burrito came with avocado which wasn’t listed as an ingredient on the menu. I didn’t mention my sensitivity to it because I didn’t think it would be an issue, but they remade it quickly and it was still good, despite being a bit liquid-y on the bottom. Next time I come here, I’m sure it’ll be better, but just a few abnormal hiccups on this visit. Still a Cape Cod classic!

Great service and great food. Server was very attentive and quick. Got the clam chowder, chicken pesto benedict, hash brown, and cole slaw. The clam chowder was only $4.50, and this tasted so much better than the $8 cup at the Lobster Pot Express at the Cape. There were so much bits of clam in every bite and it was also creamy and very savory. The benedict was also tasty. It was a toasted English muffin with pesto, fried chicken, and a poached egg topped with more pesto. The fried chicken added a nice crunchy texture, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. I loved how the pesto had whole pine nuts in it. The slaw was one of my favorites by far. Crunchy, sweet, and fresh. The food was also not expensive, and was very filling. Would definitely recommend coming here!

Cute little breakfast/lunch spot that looks just how you want a cute little breakfast/lunch spot to look on Cape Cod. Many of the tables overlook the adjacent marsh while the others overlook the parking lot. Menu is reminiscent of "diner food" with an emphasis on carbohydrates. They have monster muffins, great french toast, waffles, lots of sandwiches, eggs any way you want, and, for the calorically faint of heart, they even have salads. Waitresses, reminiscent of the golden truckstop years, buzz between tables delivering your order to the tune of "hun" and "sweety." There's even counter seating with stools. Locals love Grumpy's so it's a great place when you're visiting the Cape and you want to feel like you belong somewhere while eating a waffle. Go!
