f there were a "must-visit" list for Denton, Shuck Me would be at the top—no questions asked. This seafood haven is everything you want in a laid-back, family-friendly spot with a whole lot of flair. Whether you’re here for a casual bite or celebrating an epic occasion, Shuck Me delivers flavor, fun, and an unforgettable time. We recently rolled in for a birthday bash with 6 adults and 5 kids, and Shuck Me turned what could have been a chaotic dining experience into a breeze. Shoutout to the staff, who went above and beyond to make sure our gang felt like royalty. From keeping the kiddos happy with their favorite fries, cheeseburgers, and tenders to making sure the adults had an unforgettable seafood feast—this crew has hospitality down to a science. Let’s talk food because, let’s be real, that's why we’re all here. The shrimp po’boy was an absolute standout. I’m talking stuffed to the brim with plump shrimp that burst with flavor in every bite. But let’s not sleep on the oysters, because they are hands down some of the freshest and most perfectly prepared I’ve had in Denton. Every dish we’ve tried has been on-point—no misses here. You can tell they take pride in what they serve, and it shows. Pros: Delicious Seafood: If you love seafood, Shuck Me will spoil you. Shrimp po’boys, oysters, and everything in between are fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Family-Friendly: With a stellar selection for the little ones (hello, cheeseburgers and tenders) and a staff that’s always friendly and welcoming, Shuck Me makes dining with a big group or kids effortless. Spacious Patio: The outdoor patio is a total vibe. It’s perfect for relaxing with a cold drink, enjoying great weather, and savoring that seafood goodness. Hello, patio season! Welcoming Staff: If you’re lucky enough to get served by the crew here, expect impeccable service. They’re always upbeat, accommodating, and ready to make your experience one to remember. Great for Celebrations: Birthday parties, family dinners, or just a random Tuesday—Shuck Me has proven to be the ultimate celebration spot. The energy, the food, and the staff make it stress-free and fun. Live Music: The live music is a huge bonus on certain nights, adding to the atmosphere and giving you something to enjoy while you feast. Cons: Busy at Peak Times: It’s so good that sometimes it gets crowded. Be prepared to wait during peak hours, but trust me, it’s worth it. Casual Setting: This isn’t a fine-dining spot—if you're looking for something fancier, you might want to head elsewhere. But for a laid-back vibe with great food? This is it. Limited Indoor Space: The patio is where the magic happens, but indoor seating can be tight during colder months. Best to come prepared with layers or embrace the outdoors! Noise Level: It can get loud, especially with the live music, kids running around, and groups celebrating. Not the place for a quiet, intimate dinner, but perfect for a lively time with friends and family. Bottom Line: If you’re looking for a spot that serves up delicious, fresh seafood with a side of good vibes and a whole lot of heart, Shuck Me is where it’s at. Whether you’re gathering your crew for a birthday, hanging out with the family, or just craving some fantastic seafood, this place has you covered. Highly recommend you...
Read moreI wanted to like it. From the outside you have no idea the space but they’ve got a great space inside and out … great side patio including a stage for live music. So we sat out on the picnic tables by the music, but I now regret that because there was something on the bench like paint or rust or something that got stuck on my brand new dress and I’ve spent the whole week trying to get the stain out and have failed. I emailed the restaurant to let them know so it doesn’t happen to anyone else but they haven’t responded yet. definitely an unfortunate occurrence that lessened my experience. The menu had a nice variety, I wasn’t sure what to get, kind of wish I had asked for a recommendation because I feel like I did not choose well. I’m sure there’s some things they do very well. I ordered the Veracruz style ceviche and the flavor of the marinade was great, had a subtle kick to it that I enjoyed but the fish did not taste fresh or it was not a fresh batch bc the fish was quite mushy by the time it got to me; not the texture it should be in a ceviche. I was also excited to try the fried oysters, a dish I love and hadn’t had in a while. They took a bit longer to come out, looked good… fries with it were great, cornmeal battered and not greasy but the oysters themselves were pretty gross, mucky slimy inside. Not how it should be. In hindsight I wish I had just taken them back up to the front. The side of grilled zucchini was plain but good char … it ended up being a lot of food btwn those 3 items so I took the zucchini home. For the $40 I spent on the ceviche app, fried oysters and zucchini, I was very disappointed in what I got. Would come back if I was with people who wanted to go or maybe just to grab a drink for the atmosphere but I’d be hesitant to...
Read moreAbout a block or so from Denton Square, Shuck Me is a cute beach themed seafood spot. The decor is top notch! I really love the mix of marine themed items. I think I would discover something new each time I went. I especially loved the huge treasure chest over the drink area.
They have a large outdoor area as well, fun, we sat at one of their fun, round high tops and enjoyed the many TV’s and fun music they were playing.
The service wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t inviting and welcoming. We didn’t know where to go at first - they have you walk to the back wall to order - but we figured it out quickly. Once at the counter, the lady took our order, and got it correct, she just didn’t show much personality or engage much other than asking to take our order.
It was a great time to go, on a Sunday evening around 6:30. They weren’t super busy, but busy enough that we enjoyed the vibe without a super long wait.
So, for the food. I ordered a fried shrimp and catfish combo. The fries were SO amazing! They are absolutely delicious! The fried shrimp and the catfish filet were smaller than I had anticipated, as compared to similar types of restaurants. The flavor was good, but I was disappointed with the catfish. It had too much of a mud-cat flavor for me, a little too earthy. My husband ordered the Mexican shrimp cocktail and gumbo. He enjoyed both of them. Both were packed with seafood and the serving of tortilla chips on the side with the shrimp cocktail was a nice touch.
There are other items on the menu that I will try next time. They have a lot of choices on the menu, it took us a few minutes to decide what we wanted. I really like the various options, it provides something for...
