Let me start off by saying that I absolutely love this place, and I have been here many times with my friend. It’s like tradition for us to come here and order delicious brownies while we talk about what has happened since the last time we saw each other.
I have always adored and cherished this place as somewhere that I can come and order good food. I was completely devastated today when the server, Lilly, completely ignored our table after serving us.
My friend and I ordered our brownies and proceeded to catch up, when I overheard someone say, “can you not afford to order real food?” I pushed this statement off, as I assumed I was overhearing another customer’s conversation, and I was more focused on talking with my friend. After enjoying our desserts, my friend and I sat at our table for over an hour, and no one checked in on us even once. We’re both people that work in customer service, so we kindly waited, hoping that someone would come by and give us our tickets.
I continued to make eye contact with Lilly and so did my friend, and not once did Lilly come over. At closing (10pm on Sunday), another server came over, and we asked for our checks. He proceeded to scan our cards and give us our receipts. As we filled out our receipts and signed them, Lilly was nowhere to be seen.
Once done with our checks, we left. I then saw Lilly come out from the back, mask down, smiling, watching us leave. As stated earlier, I’m not accusing Lilly of making that statement, but I want to make it very clear that no one should ever be humiliated like that. My friend and I can very well afford whatever we so please to eat, and if you have a problem with us ordering a brownie, you should learn professionalism.
We will be coming back, but this attitude and atmosphere will not be tolerated. Please check...
Read moreI used to love coming to this place with my friends and younger brothers but recently I had the worst experience when I went out for brunch with my boyfriend. The food was not as good as I remembered (I always ordered the chicken and waffles) but what really made the experience unpleasant was the service from beginning to end. Our waitress seemed like she’s was having a rough morning, which was understandable since it was Sunday around 11am and she was the only one there. But that made no excuse for her to not have greeted us, or checked up on us a single time while she was being bubbly and checking up on the table behind and in front of us. We ordered a side of hash browns that we ended up not liking so we put it to the side. I was waiting for our waitress to pass by so I could tell her to return them, but she never did. Our waters were never filled and I ended up giving my boyfriend mine. We ate what we could, and I stacked up the plates and pushed them to the edge while we waited for our check. 15 minutes passed and she still never came to check up on us. We ended up walking up to the register to check out, and I brought up how we didn’t like the hash browns and we didn’t eat them. I asked if she could take it off out our check, and she replied with “you should of told me before” That was the cherry on the cake to piss me off Out total came out to about $41 and she didn’t even bother to give us the receipt I would of asked for it, but since I was pissed I decided to be better to walk away Hate to be “that person” but quite honestly I won’t come...
Read moreVery disappointed in my experience at Coney Island. We got in the restaurant at around 10:20pm and expected to have more than enough time to eat a quick meal before they closed at 11pm.
We sat ourselves (past this camera crew that was taking up half of the restaurant for a film project) and sat without being acknowledged by either of the 2 waitresses for nearly 20 minutes.
Finally, we flagged down a waitress that was serving a nearby table. She moved as if she wasn’t going to initially talk to us until we literally spoke up at her and made direct eye contact with her. After we finally got her attention, she told us that it was too late to order in and they were only doing to-go orders at this point. I have never in my life heard of a restaurant doing to-go orders only when they are still operating within their posted hours. Not to mention, if we had known that 20 minutes prior we wouldn’t have wasted our time sitting there.
We got up and left to another restaurant close by on the square. I had been looking forward to going to Coney Island for the first time in a few years, but it seems like I have not been missing much. Additionally, I heard the food quality has dropped in recent months anyway from people who were eating there next to us.
It’s hard to imagine I will give this place another try after the blatant...
