I saw Charlie & The Chocolate Factory (CATCF) at Theater Denton on Sunday. What a fun way to spend a couple of hours on a hot summer day. Cool theater off the square. Much of it in its original glory. The over all production was fantastic. The singing, acting and the MUSIC 🎵, all exceeded my expectations. The music was exceptional. Such talented artists. A friend of mine played violin in the performance. She played beautifully. I was actually moved to tears during the show as I was transported back to fond memories of my youth, and to my childhood memories of CATCF.
Our seats were perfect for viewing characters across the stage. I didn’t see a bad seat (obstructed) in the house.
Parking - Denton can be tricky, especially The Square, and weekends. Come early so you’re not stressing over finding a spot (like I did).
They sell snacks and beverages (alcoholic & nonalcoholic) at the concession store. They take cash and credit cards.
There’s a cute little WONKA CANDY SHOP spot for photo ops inside the lounge. Candy props and all!
Final thought- I expected the theater to be freezing inside. It wasn’t. It was cool enough inside to make me forget about the extreme heat outside. ☺️
This was my first time attending a show at Theater Denton. I’m looking forward to the upcoming shows...

Really impressed with the actress who plays Margaret. I was surprised she didn't lose her voice for the rest of the play. The actor who plays Brick did a good job even though he didn't have very many lines. The rest of the characters annoyed me but that's just how it was written that actors did a very good job for their character. This is my first time at this theater they could definitely use a better system during intermission at the drink and...
Read moreHave been attending performances for years and usually catch almost 100% of season performances. Attend fundraisers, as well for Campus program. This is one of the best small town theaters in US and we have visited many, including Newport Dinner Theater. Cats was brilliant. Little Shop of Horrors and Young Frankenstein were hilarious and unmatched. A sleeper play, Moon Over Buffalo will go down as one of my all time favorites. I was in stitches. We will continue to attend...
