Banh Mi Zone — Restaurant in Denver

Wow the steak and egg plate house special is incredible. I am a big guy, but the plate was a perfect size for lunch and comes with their homemade bread. The steak was tender and the bread was crunchy on the outside and so soft on the inside almost like a cotton candy texture which was perfect for dipping in the steak drippings. The plate came out pretty quickly like a bowl of pho would. I haven't had homemade bread that good in quite a while. I wasn't overly full nor tired afterward FYI, the menu at the restaurant is slightly different than the one posted online. I also had the Golden Vietnamese coffee which was silky and smooth totally rich in flavor. It looks a little rough on the outside but a perfect little cozy basement spot on the inside and clean. I indulged and spent $20 total and feel great afterward. The staff is really nice and sweet. It is best to park at College View Park a 1/2 block away and walk over. I will be dreaming about the steak plate for lunch and I am sure I will come back over and over again to treat myself as a post work out meal or after a long morning workday...

Kind of surprised that this place has such good reviews. I lived in Hanoi and always in search of a good bahn mi. Based on the reviews here I was expecting something amazing. I ordered the pork bahn mi & it was subpar. The bread was amazing & toasted which is a huge part of a bahn mi. The pork was REALLY fatty and chewy, so much so that there were a lot of pieces you couldn’t eat. The pate was really grainy and didn’t have the best flavor. Wished there were more pickled veggies as well. The restaurant smells like durian, which if that’s for you, then you’ll love it. But I am not a fan. Staff was very attentive and nice though. I got the Tofu sandwich. I forgot to take a picture but it was pretty disappointing. There was actually plenty of tofu, but very little of anything else and no sauce at all. I think they might have forgotten it? It felt really light when I took it home and when I opened it up I was surprised by how little was on it. I ended up adding some veggie of my own and I had to put sauce on it myself at home since it didn't have any. The flavor was good, and it could have been something if it was made right but....it wasn't. I wouldn't go back, which is sad because I was pretty excited when it opened so...
