Went to have breakfast today and thought we would have a good meal but noticed the name changed from Chihuahua's to El Zarape and found out they just changed ownership a month ago. We ordered and received our food in a timely manner but once our food was served that was the last we seen of our waitress. Had to walk up to counter to ask for the drink we waited on for 15 minutes and when we finished, waited another 15-20 minutes before I had to get up and ask for container and check. I understand waiting can be a demanding position but there wasn't much customers there and the worse part of it all I kept facing her and she made eye contact with me three times. I figured that would be enough to send her to check on us but she kept attending to the other clientele who happen to be all Spanish speaking customers. I truly feel discriminated against because we didn't speak Spanish. Then upon leaving we were driving out of the restaurant and a guy without his shirt on started looking like he was going to try and open up our door and rob us. I looked alittle closer and he had a gun in his waist so we turn on federal and he starts yelling something. Will never go to this wretched place again. Horrible service, messed up area, and food was par. Don't waste your time and hard earned money unless you...
Read moreA second visit wasn't quite as delicious, (although the complimentary sopa de fideo was much better). The calle de pescado was a bit bland, the alambre was greasy with too much cheese and unseasoned steak, and that amazing chunky pepper salsa was not offered--the server didn't even know what we were talking about when we mentioned it. Oh well!
Ate here for the first time since El Chihuahua, and the food is sooo much better! Probably the best tacos al carbon I've had, with well-seasoned steak, and stellar guacamole instead of plain avocados. We also enjoyed the empanadas de camaron, and the posole, plus the chunky pepper salsa that comes with the chips was delicious.
The service was also great. I have seen the complaint in other reviews that non-Spanish speakers were being ignored, but that is definitely no longer the case.
The only qualm I have is that it was fairly expensive, which will probably prevent us from...
Read moreTerrible experience. The food was microwaved. How do I know? The plate came out burning hot but the food was barely warmed. When confronted about it they lied saying they don’t even have a microwave. I’ve worked in dozens of restaurants in my life and every single one has a microwave for basic things like melting butter fast etc. the food was lackluster and they are ruining the location that used to be chihuahuas. Oh and did I forget to mention the owners are sitting in the middle of the dining area eating and drinking and watching football? Been there twice and both times true. First time a Jerry springer level fight popped out in the middle of the dining room. It’s really sad that I’ll never be able to enjoy food as good as chihuahuas again right next to my home. I am...
