The boss took about fifteen of us out to lunch at El Toro. It's a very popular place for lunch, the parking lot was full and I barely found a spot. The building is old and run down looking, more on the inside than the out. You don't really realize that much coming in, until you sit down and start looking around. I looked up at the ceiling and said WTF.....Woe! I commented to my coworker and he said "It's one of them hole in the walls that has good food". I was told that they were known for their tacos, but I ordered the burritos - mild! They were out in a couple minutes, Woe! Burritos were not what I expected. They were on a plate, smothered under a pile of sauce. I took a couple of bites and they were fire hot! I couldn't eat it. I asked the waitress if it was mild and she said "yes" - Woe! The waitress asked if I wanted something else, With No Problem! I ordered the Chicken Tacos, it took about twenty minutes and WoW! They were greasy, but a hundred times better. The waitress and staff were super nice - all on point with service. Cash only. No cards. My take on El Toro is it's a very popular place For The Fried Tacos!!! With out them this place would be out of business! So, don't even look at the rest of the menu. Advice To El Toro; INVEST IN A DROP GRID CEILING - Put Your Customers At Ease When They Look Up! It would pay off in more ways than one. Would I come back for the chicken tacos? Hell Yeah!! For that I give you...
Read moreThe owners are my neighbors. Before Their daughter, who is 4 yrs. my jr., asked to borrow my car to run to her Dad's restraunt because she needed to pick up food there, I had no idea. Alcohol is served there, hence, bar restraint. Cantina, would be fitting. Although, I have yet to eat there, & or try their margaritas, I know first hand, how delicious the mom & or wife of the owner can cook. They would regularly have weekend plates of food that the father would casually offer to neighbors & or personal friends in the area. I found myself to be on the winning end of those food plates. Raised in Phx. AZ & So. Cal, Mexican dishes were the norm. I would safely say, about a fifth of all prepared dinner meals in a lifetime up to this point, have been Mexican style dishes. My mom has 10 sisters & they all cook. My wife is Hispanic, raised in New Mexico & she can cook her a ss off. The food of El Toro, is some of the best tasting, Mexican food that I can remember. The oils they use are not heavy & noticeable. Sseasoned supurbly with fresh ingredients. That description is for food food dshes given to me & subsequently, ~devoured by me, whilst not knowing they...
Read moreI wasnât sure what time they stopped serving food so I called to ask. The woman said 6. It was 5:43 when I called and I told her Iâm 5 minutes away and asked if they would still serve me? She said in a friendly voice, yes, come on in, as long as you get here before 6. I got there at 5:50 and waited a few minutes at the table until this guy started walking up and, I kid you not, he gave me the hand and neck motion nodding his head no and the first thing out his mouth was, âweâre closed.â I tried to tell him what the lady on the phone said and he cut me off saying things like, âSo? Whatâs that got to do with me?â And âGet out, weâre closed.â And âWhy did you come at 5:55!??â đł
I sat there staring at him because I couldnât believe how this guy was acting. Even the cook came out and asked what I wanted to order and as I was telling her this guy starts talking over me, cutting me off saying âweâre not serving her, she should have got here earlier, weâre closed.â Not joking, this was so absurd that I almost asked him if he was high or had...
