Iāve had worse deliveries; youāll probably be fine.
I came from I-70 W. Use exit 276, keep left. Immediate left turn as if your getting back on the interstate. Keep right, follow signs for Dahlia St. Slow down, look for the gate on your right. Inbound trucks must use the third entrance into staging. Look for the yellow sign.
You must use their FreightSmith app to check in, communicate, and submit unloading payments. Itās alright, it works and is straightforward. Create an account with your Name, Phone Number, and Email. Tap check in, youāll need to enter your PO number and the Zipcode (80216). Itāll find your appointment and give you the option to submit additional POs. Itāll ask to confirm case count and whatnot. Once completed, youāll wait. I waited about 15 minutes before they gave me a door. (I was 30 minutes late for my appointment; they still accepted me. I had a fresh meat load so that may play into their decision).
The meat docks are directly in front of the guard shack, so itās a little tight. The docks are covered and tight, with columns conveniently place to shed those pesky trailer doors so you can save some weight. So nice of them! Bring your A-game. Grocery down the way looks a little easier.
Find your door, break seal, open doors, place bills in trailer. Back in, again watch out for those columns. Tires just inside yellow line or touching the inside. No need to slide tandems unless you also frequent Walmart too and it just feels good to do it.
Lumper fee is paid through the FreightSmith app. Payment page is on the home screen, which you first open the app. Youāll get a text message when itās ready. My fee was $178.00 for 14 pallets, 450 cases, 9,000 lbs or so. You have all the standard payment options; fleet codes, credit cards, etc. No issues with Comchek express code. Wait in the truck until you get a phone call from a dockworker who says youāre done. Signed bills in the trailer. Lumper receipt in the app. You can pull out and close doors. Security will check your signed bills and let you go.
I was here for 3 hours or so. They actually beat my Walmart average. Iām sure it depends on how much you bring. Iāve had much worse deliveries. Blue Beacon is nearby at the TA on Quebec St for washouts.
If you miss the immediate left turn back onto i70 for Dalia, as I did (Denver four wheelers wonāt move an inch for ya), go straight. Right turn on 40th, caution itās tight and you will curb the trailer. Go straight on 40, then right turn on York and Josephine. Follow around until you reach the interstate again, right turn on to 46th. Go straight all the way through until you reach...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me tell you that it was a great experience overall! Yes, the freight smith app is weird and glitchy, but when I entered I was given a piece of paper with a phone number to call. When you call you going to speak with a robotized assistant which just asks simple question like your PO #, truck #, MC # and so on. It was pretty simple to check in , although I saw a bad reviews from drivers who said that hated the AI phone call.
So I checked in at 6:00 am and my appointment was at 7:00 am , I got the door like after 10 minutes after my check in process. Unloaded very quickly, and paid the lumper , I was done in about 1,5 hours, so 30 minutes after my appointment time , and all of this while waiting for my company to send me EFS check, and they were slow about it.
Overall it's a great experience, I don't know what "professional" drivers complain about, I guess they too professional for places like these. I also saw drivers saying it was hard to find a door, I understand that average truck driver IQ is not that high, but it wouldn't be so hard to guess that when you are given say door 104 and you see that you are by the door 90 you need to driver towards 91, 92, 93 and so on , and vise versa of you were given door say 118. You got it !
If you think this place is bad please go deliver to Kroger in Aurora,CO , you will be happy to meet real people there who will mess up your logbook hours completely! Or go pickup at Pepsi at Denver, CO. You will glad you deal with people who don't care about your appointment and you'll be parked by their fence until midnight, while your appointment time was 11 am. Good luck I guess!
The only thing the Safeway system might improve that they would be more specific about who breaks the seal and that you need to put BOL in your trailer before backing up, but I'm grateful that they didn't mess up my logbook hours. Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAppointment checkin through FreightSmith. I detest these automated situations. 7 calls while Iām driving around the building because itās not registering my text and voice responses. Buuuutttt thatās only worth 3 stars⦠the 1 star is for the yard driver that cussed me out when I tried to go out the incorrect gate. No instructions beyond āgo to ** Dahlia st by door 301, turn in bills and you will be assigned a door thereā Ok fine, I texted back a question on how to get there, no response. Couldnāt get through on the āhelpā number either. So I used maps to address given and looked at satellite view to see how to get there. I followed the barely visible arrows on the ground heading towards the building that I needed to go to. A yard driver sped past me, Not a New occurrence, happens all the time. He went to go out a gate and I lined up behind him. Less than 30 seconds he was on the ground walking towards my truck flailing his arms and yelling at me. āYou canāt go out this gateā Ok Sir Iām sorry Iāve not been here⦠he cuts me off and starts cussing at me. I Thank him for all his help and he glares at me and calls me an expletive. I called him a jerk, then the cussing notches up. I pull around and head to guard shack. The guard helps me and I tell him the yard driver cussed me out. He said I know, they have body cams and itās not the first time this guy has been like this?! And that he will report him. Wait what?! I donāt know about anyone else but Iām sick of the omnipotent status these individuals get to be rude and reckless. I shouldnāt have called him a...
