I waited a full year to write this review, as I wanted to really make sure that what I reviewed wasn’t just the afterglow of my immediate purchase but an authentic review of my purchase and the customer service.
First, it is important to know that prior to working with Mile High Custom Food Trucks, I had not worked in the food industry and did not understand anything about mechanics, generators, or anything else. Yes, I am that customer. I initially approached Thomas six months prior to actually pulling the trigger, and I had an initial Zoom meeting with him. Oh, I should mention that I live in California. It was important to me that I select a business that’s personal, easy to work with, and can get the job done. My initial meeting with Thomas was great; it felt like talking to an old friend. I found him on Youtube, and his video felt like a good match. Six months later, I wrote him to tell him I was ready to do it and asked that he put together a design based on my vision. Over the course of the next three weeks, we went back and forth, iterating over email and then Zoom. Planning and Production Thomas was upfront that he was booked out for a few months, and I was actually cool with that as I didn't have a rapidly approaching timeline. Thomas sent me a text when he started working on my trailer and kept me informed of the progress. The County of Sacramento and the State of California are very stringent on things, and as a result, there have been lots of revisions to my plans. The county made it very challenging, as I believe they discourage out-of-state builds. I had planned a trip out to Colorado with my son so I could see the final product (and I was very excited). But when I arrived, it wasn’t done. He was about three weeks behind. I was okay with this, but it was annoying. Nevertheless, it was good to see where my rig was getting built and even better to meet him. Super nice guy. Attention to detail and customer service Once my trailer was built, I was thrilled with the end product. Picture after picture, text after text... It was exactly what I wanted. He got a few things wrong (e.g., he was putting in a warming table and I wanted a warming cabinet), but he adjusted quickly and didn't make a fuss about it. The dude who did my wrap—I think it’s 303 wraps? His name is Ray. AMAZING JOB. Everyone in California comments on the quality and the seamless appearance.
Delivery and post-delivery customer service: Thomas is 100% legit. He made good on his promises and went above and beyond to please. If I am being honest, it was sort of sad to see that Thomas incurred some extra costs on his end (shipping a few things post-production that his team forgot or having to do unnecessary revisions due to missing the detail the State and County of California provided him on the front end). This seemed to be a symptom of Thomas growing beyond his ability to meet demand but not having the right team to help him with the supply. It seemed like the people he hired were not paying attention.
My first year in Food trucking This has been a whirlwind. It is like learning a new language.. I have a beautiful trailer that I get compliments on every time i take it out. I have reliable, top end equipment and I have confidence. Very thankful for Thomas and his support over the lsat year and a half.
Summary: What I am happy about -Cost was far less than California companies -Customer service was top notch and communication was great, even a year later -Flexibility from the owner and really personalized experience -Coordination of delivery etc
What I would consider an opportunity for Thomas and something to look out for as the purchaser: -Ensure that the specs in your county/state are clearly understood by Thomas AND his staff -Do a final inspection/walk through with Thomas for sign off and look at things like the plumbing/exhaust pipe with generator etc to make sure it all checks out and don't be afraid to say something...
Read moreNot a trustworthy dealership, Very bad experience working with this company. Worst follow up ever from Thomas the company owner . Absolute dishonesty, On 19th of April 2022, we drove straight to Mile High Food Truck after buying our 2022 brand new Mercedes-Benz van from the dealership of Littleton in order to be build and here we are, more than a year later, basically with nothing done.
It's important to outline some of the other things that happened during the time we tried to work with Mile High Food Truck:
We absolutely understand that were some changes on the internal layout of the van and Thomas the owner agreed to those changes according to the vehicle warranty.
There were a lot of delays from his side finding out about the permissions that must come from the county inspectors - we have not received any of those confirmations, in order to continue the job. And he handed me 2 hard copies of junk emails have no prove at all from the counties after he walked away from the job. We relied on his professional advice to realize our dream - with huge lack of follow up from his side, we are the ones who came up with the solutions - one of the biggest being the addition of a trailer for the cooking equipment. This idea was very welcomed from his side as we'd been committed to working with him.
There was a promise that he would help source the commercial kitchen equipment when that didn't happen, we ended up having to do it on our own.
We spent several hours with him finalizing the set up and when we came to his workshop to meet with the first builder, he had the completely wrong layout mapped out on the van floor Thomas instructed his contractor, and it wasn't what we wanted. it was after this that we lost complete confidence.
When the van was in his workshop, there were some damages and dents in the rear side caused by his workers. The promise to fix those was never done.
he then agreed to send workers to build out the van in our driveway. as he said he will go to the maximum level of his customer service satisfaction, but one of the workers got sick several times so couldn't be able to work as a translator to Tony which he only speaks Spanish, and the wiring that he did was a mess - connecting them without tubes, shredding the wires and actually screwing through them.
Next, he sent another contractor and his son. We were very encouraged with the first few days of work, but when his son showed up with a ((GUN)) several times, it made us very uncomfortable. We asked that he not return to work. Even though the contractor promised to finish the job, then he started coming to the job late, canceling at the very last moment (literally 1 minute before he was due to arrive), and one of his subcontractors drilled unnecessarily through the side of the van. The contractor then announced that he would not continue the job until all of the equipment had been purchased and delivered - which was NOT part of the initial agreement. Again, we accepted this - but once everything had been delivered, he decided to walk away. Professional contractors must be respectful to other people's time, as well, not by showing up with a ((gunman)). and he must give notice before walking away from job.
We had very hard time refunding some of our money back from this company,
We have all the documents and all the evidence that shows the Dishonesty and the fraudulent of...
