After a beautiful Sunday stroll around Sloan’s Lake with a lovely friend, we decided to cap off the afternoon by grabbing a bite at The Patio at Sloan’s. I ordered the chopped wedge salad with chicken and the Philly cheesesteak appetizer rolls. To drink, I asked for a non-alcoholic Michelob Ultra with tomato juice on the side—plus an olive and lime for a little flair. My friend went for the mild buffalo boneless wings and a tap sour beer (don’t ask me which one—I forgot).
Let’s start with the service. When we first arrived, the hostess told me there were no available patio seats—which I could clearly see wasn’t true. When I repeated what she said in a question, suddenly she decided to double-check. A guy (busser? service lead? manager? mystery patio angel?) jumped in to help and quickly got a table cleaned off for us. Bless him. Within minutes we were seated on a packed patio, and honestly, that kind of hustle deserves a shoutout.
Now our server… let’s just say she was fine. Not rude, but not warm either. No real eye contact, no vibe, no "how y’all doing today?" energy—just the basics. It was serviceable, but nothing that would make me want to come back for her.
Drinks came out quickly (thanks bar team!), but the water pitcher had no ice… on a hot day. My friend liked it that way, but me? I’d rather have the option. Also, instead of the tomato juice I requested, I was served a Bloody Mary mix without warning. Not the same thing. Not even close. But I drank it anyway because… waste not, want not.
Food came out impressively fast—shoutout to the kitchen! But um… where’s the rest of my Philly cheesesteak roll? It was clearly cut from two rolls (as most are), but I only got one and a half. So what, are y’all snacking on the other half in the back? Or saving it for another random order? Either way—it’s weird. If the kitchen’s trying to get creative with cost-saving, this ain’t the move.
Now for that chopped wedge salad. Y’all. It was good—like, really good. Chilled, fresh, loaded with crispy bacon bits and juicy tomatoes. But here’s the thing: a wedge salad is supposed to come with, you know… a wedge. This was a chopped salad in a bowl. Don’t gaslight me with “chopped wedge” like it’s a trendy loophole. A wedge is a wedge. Don’t lie to my lettuce.
Overall? It was a fair experience. The view was great, the food (besides a few eyebrow-raisers) was tasty, and I might come back to try some other things. But next time, I’ll manage my expectations—and...
Read moreTerrible service… after waiting for 20 min after being seated I finally had to get up and ask the host if there were actually any servers in our section. Finally someone came over to take drink orders but seemed so rushed that he couldn’t be bothered to wait a moment to get the whole order and ran off after only taking one drink order… someone else dropped off the one drink that was ordered but never bothered to ask if anyone else wanted anything. Server never came back to take the food order.. had to flag down what I’m guessing was a manager… hard to tell because everyone who works their are all dressed in their casual best gym clothes so it’s hard to tell who works there and who’s a guest…. She finally takes our order. Apps come out pretty timely and she offered to give us those for free due to the terrible service thus far. Finally our lunch comes… the food itself wasn’t actually too bad. Food was long done… waiting.. waiting… waiting.. finally was able to catch sight of our server and flagged him to pay so we could get the heck out of there as it’s literally been two hours since we had been sat by now. Server comes by.. grabs my credit card off the table and runs off the go take care of the tab. Comes back after swiping my card and to my surprise, they charged full price in the apps that were offered to us for free. Again had to get up and walk over to the bar to get my server’s attention again since he apparently forgot that his section even existed…. Advised him of the overcharge. He apologized and took add to go fund his manager. Manager came over and tried her best to make it right by voiding the entire charge out. Offered to send me a gift card as well… however I’m not sure I’ll be returning… especially after noticing on the receipt that they added an additional 2% to the bill for a “back of the house living wage fee”. How insane is that. Don’t pass the cost of having to pay your kitchen staff a living wage by adding a fee to my lunch. Just...
Read moreHighly disappointed by the professionalism with the staff at The Patio. It’s taken me some time to let their actions set in, but I’m here to share my experience. My wife and I got married in the mountains a couple months ago and had many conversations with their GM about reserving the outside patio for our reception. We sent many emails, often with no reply, as well as called them directly with a “I’ll talk to our other GM about this” as the answer. Weeks later, both managers were “stepping down” and our info was passed along to their new manager. We never received any reach out, then after calling him, he said we were “good to go” and he would reach out to us next week to plan a time to come by to solidify menu items. We never heard from him, so we decided to just drop by one afternoon. Thankfully, that manager was there “on his off day” and said,”yes, you guys are all good to go, we’ll definitely have this reserved for you.” Our big day comes and a few of our guests start to arrive and find out there are multiple tables already full. In fact, they had “no idea who we are” and then the same manager mentioned he had sent emails over and never heard back so he thought we canceled. Turns out, he could not provide proof of any emails, nor did we have anything in our inbox or spam folder. Being highly disrespected on the happiest day of our lives, the last thing we wanted was to spend any money at this place. Thankfully, we contacted Sidecar, a local bar, and they welcomed all of us with open arms. They pushed tables together, kept the kitchen open 45 minutes later than normal for our guests, and even offered a free round of champagne for everyone! Our evening event was saved in the end, but if you have any hopes of planning any sort of gathering here, best of luck. The managing staff is a joke and lacks all levels of...
