The menu board didn't state anywhere that the cheeseburger is actually a loose meat sandwich, plus the seasoning was so strong we couldn't eat it. We've been here before, there's typically a line out into the street that moves quickly and the ice cream treats are good enough to keep us coming back to support a small, locally owned business. The service has typically been direct and quick, never what I'd call friendly but they do a great job considering the crowds. Tonight was significantly different. The line was less than usual, probably because of the fair and rain. When it was our turn at the speaker, the employee interrupted multiple times and kept saying "is that all?" "anything else?" leaving me feeling like she was not really hearing me. She didn't repeat the order, which I should have asked her to do. When I got to the window and paid, (without being given a total) the bag felt light so I double checked the food. We were missing 1/3 of what we ordered (chicken tenders and fries). She had already closed the window. When she reopened it, she tried to give me the next person's order. I let her know we were missing food. She didn't say anything, turned away, then came back and said she only charged us for one and stared blankly at me. No apology, no solution suggestion, just a blank state. I drove away because I couldn't deal with her and didn't want to wait another 10+ minutes. IDK if she was the same employee from the speaker or two separate ones, but either way, the service and food fell WAY...
Read moreFinally open again! If we go for ice cream, it's this place or Granny's. Each are a local staple, but the thing that gives this place extra points in my book is their ability to mix the Tornadoes effectively. For example, I get the cookie dough tornado every time, and there's cookie dough all the way to the bottom. Some places you get the topping in the top half and the bottom half is nothing but vanilla ice cream. Kudos to the staff for delicious Tornadoes. My wife gets the hot fudge banana malt every time, which speaks to it's delicious balance of banana and chocolate. Even though it's seasonal, it tastes that much better when it opens. The drive-thru is usually slammed on summer evenings, so I'd recommend going up to the window. Otherwise, if you're not in a hurry and don't mind waiting, then the...
Read moreShowed up at 9:05 p.m., stood outside the window for 10 minutes waiting for somebody to notice me. Once someone finally noticed I was at the window, she just waved to me on and said they were closed. I told her the sign hanging right in front of me said they closed at 9:30 p.m.. She just, again, waived me on and said "yeah, we're closed". Your staff would do well to actually operate within the hours you advertise that you are open. The only reason I'm not leaving a one-star review is because I actually enjoy the food there. I would understand if there were some extenuating circumstances that the restaurant was closed early, but to not even open the window and speak directly to me and just wave me on was extremely rude. I didn't...
