El Michoacano Taqueria — Restaurant in Des Moines

I live close to this restaurant & used to go in there 2-3 times per week. The last time I went there was a different employee working the counter instead of the very nice young lady that is normally there. I was treated sooooo bad that I canceled my order & left. The new lady was VERY rude for absolutely no reason. I chose to leave & decided I would still give them another try on a different day & hopefully she wouldn't be there. A few days after my horrible visit my adult son & his girlfriend (who also works in the service industry) went for lunch & were also treated horribly so now I will no longer give them my business. It's sad because their food is great but I won't stand being treated poorly for no reason. I was getting ready to possibly have them cater my youngest sons graduation party. Which I was willing to spend at least $800 for but unfortunetly will now have to spend that $$$ with a different company. Please if you want to keep your customers do not let the lady with blonde hair work...

Amazing authentic Mexican food! I am so happy there is a vegan option for every item on the menu!! It’s such a great feeling to not have limited options and to actually experience all the traditional styles with different vegan alternatives. They also have meat options, so everyone in your group has something to choose from — love that. I really wish more restaurants would adopt this method!

Everything I’ve tried so far has been phenomenal: • Vegan soyrizo Mexi-gyro: 12/10 🔥 • Vegan enchiladas: 10/10 • Vegan flautas: 10/10 • Vegan tacos • Cactus: 4/10 • Soyrizo: 6/10 (I don’t love tacos in general so that’s not on them) • Vegan asada fries: 10/10

The customer service is great, the items are affordably priced, and the staff is clearly very hardworking. You can tell they’re passionate about what they do and it really shows in the quality of the food.

Best Mexican food in Des Moines. They serve meat but also make nearly everything on the menu can also be made vegan! Everything on the vegan side of the menu is awesome!! We tried the vegan pastor burrito, and vegan pastor nachos on our first visit and loved it! Since our first visit we have been back several more times and tried the vegan asada burrito, vegan Michoacano burrito and the vegan empanadas. We believe this is the best Mexican restaurant in Des Moines and the best vegan restaurant in Des Moines!

Their service is fast, the ingredients are high quality, the servings are generous and the flavors are out of this world!

We thought we would never be able to eat out at a Mexican restaurant again after we became vegan.
