This place turned a random lunch choice into one of the top meal experiences of my life.

It's a tiny humble operation of people who are thrilled to share their culture and flavors with you. The owners and family are in the building and cooking the food. Their energy and optimism makes you feel at home.

They enthusiastically answer questions and explain the dishes to the uneducated (me) with grace and patience.

And the food is good. It's really, really, good. It's think about it for weeks good, plan your commute around it good, and it's tell your friends good.

They serve larger than expected portions at a great price. I expected to have leftovers and left with a clean plate and no leftovers. I'd be licking my the plate clean if they didn't provide a generous amount of injera with each dish.

On weekends they do a coffee ceremony. They welcome you into their culture, share a conversation, and serve you the most delicious and strong tiny cup of coffee you've ever had. It's made slowly, served slowly, and worth every second. Your favorite espresso has nothing on this coffee.

It's an unassuming storefront in an unassuming strip mall. The people and the food make it a truly...

Finally! ❤️ We have been trying to eat here since they opened, and we finally made it happen. We went all out and probably should have brought friends- both meat lovers and vegan. There was so much delicious food to eat. Get the beyaynetu ethio chicken stew combo (chicken tibs, lamb tibs, doro wot, gomen, lentils) if you’ve never had Ethiopian/Eritrean food before- you’ll get a variety. We’re coming back for beef tibs and then again for coffee (bunna) ceremonies on the weekends! The atmosphere and staff are welcoming. I fell in love with Ethiopian/Eritrean food while living in NYC, and there were some nice spots in Seoul, South Korea. When we first moved here, we were excited about Gursha, but we missed the full, warm, family style, sit down experience, which is what Habesha offers. Great for dates, families, or events. If you’re looking for honey wine, I am not sure if they serve it or if they serve any alcohol (yet). I swear, I am getting nothing for this review. They just deserve the praise. I also want excellent local and diverse restaurants to thrive...

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I had a wonderful experience at Habesha Ethio Eritrean Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — full of rich, authentic flavors that brought back so many good memories. I went with my friends, and we all truly enjoyed every bite.

The hospitality was incredible, and the staff made us feel so welcome. The customer service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and very professional. The atmosphere was bright, clean, and beautifully decorated, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal.

I highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing food and warm, inviting service. I’ll definitely be coming back again...

We were passing through Iowa and stopped in Des Moines for dinner. We found Habesha Ethio Eritrean on Google maps and decided to stop there. The service was very good. Being new to Ethiopian food the owners were more than helpful helping us decide what to try. We shared the Ethio chicken stew major combo. It was amazing and plenty for the two of us to share. Our next trip through Iowa will include a stop here for a meal!

They have an excellent variety of foods that include vegan foods and non vegan authentic dishes. Highly recommended. Also as a bonus, you will be able to see some cool traditional staffs like clay pot, traditional coffee maker made from a clay called "Jebena" and the food cover looks like a cone (seen on the photo uploaded). Enjoy!!
