Smoking Goat Pub — Restaurant in Des Moines

The bar itself had a nice esthetic, and the staff was mostly helpful. However, I would strongly advise against ordering take out from here. This was the only place in town, still open, that I could find a beyond burger at, so I placed an order over the phone. My order was small (just a beyond burger and cauliflower wings). They told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I showed up to grab my order, it was a disorganized mess. I ended up waiting another 20 minutes, just to be handed the wrong order, and to be asked to wait longer. Once my order finally came, my cauliflower wings were without BBQ sauce, which I requested, and clarified over the phone. I didn’t feel like dealing with that after wasting so much time waiting for my meal, but it was highly annoying. There was a group of us trying to coordinate going to the same place on our lunch break from a conference. I called the night before to give them a heads-up that about 12 of us would be there around 12:15. It ended up being 16, but there were only 3 other customers in the entire restaurant beside our group.

Seems like a decent bar but not sure all those Facebook posts make it a good pub but I wanted to try it. First, menu is very small. A few appetizers and about 6 menu items. Wife and I tried the BYO smashburger. The hamburger is a pre-made patty. Not exactly a smash burger to me. It didn't taste good as you can imagine. The sautéed onions, mushrooms and Swiss cheese helped some. Crinkle cut fries were ok but a bit overdone. Mother in law had the fish and chips.
