Maggie's Rumble Room — Restaurant in Des Moines

"UNFORTUNATE SON'S BAND", is what led me to this live music venue for the first time. I didn't make it to much further than inside the door, & just to the front of the band, which was just inside the front door! The nearest end of the bar, was also only a few feet in front of the band! Couldn't get any more convenient than that! Honestly cannot say much about anything about the rest of the establishment, I never made it past the front of the band! I can say.....friendly & prompt bartender, whom I was told after serving me, was Maggie herself! Friendly, casual, comfortable, place & patrons. The one's that joined me in front for some "happy feet" dance time! The band was, of course "FABULOUS", As expected! Having seen them the night before at, my home venue, "DOWN UNDER", I was happy to support the band a second night, & enjoy their music again! It's nice to have another venue in the growing "live music venue mix" for musicians, & fans alike to go & enjoy the many excellent, & multi gifted local musicians we are blessed & fortunate to have in Iowa! This was originally the location of a place called Sambetti's which I hadn't gone to because I was probably too young but I did hear about it having an excellent grinder sandwich from my dad who grew up nearby. First of all it's really a great place with a fun vibe. Unfortunately the city of Des Moines has been tearing up 2nd avenue for years now so it's Always an obstacle course to deal with but once you're there it's well worth it and there is plenty of parking spaces. The first time I went with my girlfriend and we tried the 'green elephant' pesto pizza which we had heard about as being excellent and it really was. Our waitress was Kelsey and she was really fun. You could tell she loved her job. On another night I played in a band there & met the famous Maggie and she's totally cool and has a great sense of humor. There's a lot of interesting stuff on the walls and believe it or not a Led Zeppelin pinball machine (goodbye quarters)! All in all a great hang, great food and a great place for listening/dancing to live...

Maggie's got a rad place! I stumbled upon this watering hole while travelling on holiday and it was a great place to hang. The regulars were friendly and the bar service was on point. Definitely recommend it to anyone passing through or local just looking for a cool little spot to chill out. Never before and never since have I had a random dude at a bar walk up and offer me a sticker of themself but I did at Maggie's! Had a good time.
