Edit 2: I placed an order over the phone today and everything went perfectly. Maybe they have solved their staffing issues. We got a Buffalo chicken wrap and shrimp po’boy and both were good.

Edit: The owner was kind enough to send me a gift card to give them another try. I tried to order online but couldn’t figure out how to use the gift card online, so I called. “Can you hold for a second?” Sure. 10 minutes later, I thought something must’ve happened, so I hung up and called back. Same thing – “just one second.” I waited this time for 6 minutes before cutting my losses and eating elsewhere. They must be extremely short staffed these days. Will update my review if/when I’m able to order from there again.

I was excited to try Three Kings as I just moved in nearby and heard that they have some of the best burgers in town.
We went at 5:45p on a Wednesday and got the last available table, so reservations are recommended. They seemed to be short staffed, because no one took our order until after 6p. They still honored happy hour pricing, at least, which ends at 6p.
Happy hour is Monday-Friday from 4-6p in the whole restaurant. It includes 1/2 draft beer, $2 off wine, $4 wells, $5 margaritas, and $6 appetizers.
We ordered a beer, cocktail, spicy chicken toasted ravioli, gyro sliders, and the Kings Signature Smash burger (double cheeseburger w/ smash sauce).
The chicken t-ravs were mediocre. The outside wasn’t bad, and the sriracha ranch dipping sauce was good, but the inside was just a gooey mess. I’d imagine the beef ones would be better.
When the entrees came out is when my review went from 3-4 stars to 2… My burger was cold. My wife’s sweet potato fries were too hot for her to eat right away, but her gyro sliders were cold as well. We assumed the entrees sat there while waiting for the sides to finish.
Upon further inspection, I don’t know that the burger would have been good even if it had been served hot. It looked more like a Big Mac patty than a crispy-edged, juicy-middle smashburger patty that places like Mac’s and Carl’s serve up. The bun was supposed to be toasted but was pale which just a ring of crisp around the edge.
The fries had promise but were bland. Some seasoning would do wonders for it.
Regarding the atmosphere, there were several TVs but none were showing the Cardinals game for some reason, even though it was the end of a close game. We requested that it be put on one of the TVs but it never was. When you go to a pub, you expect to be able to see your local team play.
Overall, I can’t recommend Three Kings. Maybe they just had a bad night, but what I had hoped would become my go-to neighborhood pub is now in “I don’t know if I’ll ever go back” territory.
There’s a Circle 7 Ranch just down the road and it’s been better in every way both...
Read moreHard to know where to begin. Everyone is struggling with their Re-entry plan back into the business world after the COVID lock down. But there are quite a few struggles going on at 3K Des Peres. First, there was construction and rotary saw noise the whole time, because a 6 week lockdown wasn’t enough time? The mojito was made very poorly and sent back (and removed from bill). The wings were ok and lobster bisque decent. Fried pickles very good. Also when seated, we were informed there is a 20% gratuity added automatically to every order regardless of party size to help make up for COVID effects. Part went to all employees, part went to the restaurant for increases in food costs, and part to charity.
So I get that we all suffered through this and times are tough. But they are tough for everyone. In addition, if you are adding an automatic 20% (not including waitress tip) you need to have impeccable drinks and food to even try and justify it. No...it just wasn’t there. Their service was good...that I will say. But the food was a let down and the drinks were poor.
There’s definitely some things to get back on track here. $80 for 2 people and a couple of drinks is a bit high. We’ve Been to many other places since the lockdown ended.
Try Mattinglys in Florissant (amazing food and amazing drinks and crazy cheap); or firebirds in St. Charles. Crazy good food and drink but a little bit pricier. Still prob not $80 before tip...
Read moreMy friend and I went to Three Kings Public House today because we heard that the wings were phenomenal. Wow! We were not disappointed. The wings here are amazing. They offer two different flavors: Three Kings Buffalo Sauce or Spicy Thai Sauce. We had both. The first thing you will observe is that these breaded wings are huge. Maybe the biggest chicken wing that I have had in St. Louis. Clearly they are making a decision to serve a very high quality wing. The Buffalo Sauce was good but we were blown away by the Spicy Thai flavor. It was incredible and we loved the Spicy Thai. The service at this restaurant was also a 10 out of a 10. Have you noticed all the restaurants with signs apologizing on the front end that service is going to be bad because of a shortage of people who are willing to work? Three Kings Public House does not have any sort of signs and our server was amazing. Her name was Heather. She was a great ambassador for Three Kings Public House (She has worked here for a while). It was clear that she loves her job, she loves her employer and she is a people person. She was super attentive and engaging our entire visit. We had the opportunity to meet the manager, Jason. Jason was engaging and he even facilitated a hotter version of the Spicy Thai. (whoever was cooking did an amazing job for us). Jason was extremely helpful. This place is a 6 on a...
