Ordered a box of 18 brownies from this bakery and figured, no need to taste in store as how can any bakery ruin brownies. Well got them home and i had to toss the box which cost $15.00. For the cost, I expected a premium bakery experience as in the quality of a New York City bakery or something on a par with Ray's donuts. Well these brownies looked normal. They were plain without frosting and nuts but they were without question absolutely the worst brownies I have ever had. They were not even close to just okay or below average or bad, rather these brownies were horrible to the point of being inedible for not just myself but for 6 kids and 3 adults as not one person would eat them!!! How bad were they/ Let me make it abundantly clear! These brownies were so bad, they ruined the ice cream when they were topped with vanilla ice cream!!!! The texture was dry and the taste was akin to bitter hot chocolate cocoa mix with no hint of sugar or semi-sweet chocolate. These were without a doubt the worst brownies i have ever had at any time in any place and i have been to some pretty crappy hotels and diners and school cafeterias. Jails have better tasting brownies because their commissaries offer commercial supermarket brands like Little Debbie cakes!!! Literally I have tasted much better brownies out of a vending machine at a rest stop on I 70. By comparison, the average (but much less expensive )supermarket bakery brownies at Schnucks, Dierbergs or Straubs would put these to shame and those brownies are okay at best. I was quite angry because there is no way the baker or the bakery or any normal human being who tasted these could possibly believe these brownies were suitable for sale let alone remotely worth the price charged. The lesson is that the bakery is a clip joint with no quality control and that they are operating their business in take advantage of the public trust. i would never buy another baked good from this place as i am not fond of businesses who charge premium prices for inedible cuisine. The quality control processes are clearly lacking and/or the bakers are morons hired off the street and paid minimum wage as only a completely incompetent employee could duplicate the the taste and quality of theses brownies. These 'brownies' do not deserve to be called brownies but should rather be retailed as "dry turd squares" to avoid false advertising liability) were absolutely the worst brownies I have ever tasted ever/anywhere. I can only describe them as something akin to a brown Milk Bone dog biscuit in regard to the smell and flavor. Hwever, i would never feed chocolate to my dog so at best they are rat food. if you like to pay a premium price for inedible bakery goods, you will love these as much as the rats who scavenge your trash...
Read moreI visited Daily Bread this morning to grab a quick breakfast before work and was unable to order food.
I walked in and straight up to the counter as there were no customers in the restaurant. As I walk up to the cash register I see at least 3 employees within 10 feet of the register, none of which acknowledged that I was there. I waited for about 2 minutes wondering if I was going to be able to place my order as other customers started to walk in and get in line behind me.
Another minute goes by and I decide to call it, turn around and walk out the door.
So for a little over 3 minutes I am standing directly in front of the register ready to place my order and not a single employee says anything to me.
A simple "hello sir we will be with you shortly" or "just give me one minute sire and I will be with you" would have been appropriate in this scenario but nothing was said.
I could understand if the restaurant was ridiculously busy or there were no employees available to assist me, but it was about 25 minutes after the restaurant opened and there was only one gentlemen in the entire place sitting in a side booth enjoying a cup of coffee.
As I left I couldn't help but wonder how long that gentlemen waited for the cup of coffee.
There is no reason why a customer should have to wait any amount of time really when the place is completely empty and there are numerous employees in the immediate area.
Daily Bread was one of my go-to places for breakfast and lunch, but now I need to find somewhere who is willing to take my money.

Read moreFirst time visiting this establishment today. Ordered a slice of Quiche Lorraine and one of the vegetable Quiche. The vegetable slice was moist and quite tasty. The Lorraine was a waste of money. I believe I was served the last piece in the pan that I was shown in the case. It was overcooked. They must have heated it up far too long because it was difficult getting a fork through it to eat. I make it myself for years at home and quiche is NOT supposed to be tough. The filling should be soft, yet stable. I was visiting with friends from out of town and didn't want to disrupt our gathering. What I should have done was taken it back to the counter and requested a new serving. Instead, I gave the remains to the birds on the patio. Not sure if I will return and give this place a second chance. Quality control matters. I advise to make sure you are served a fresh item. I should have taken a picture of the Lorraine slice, did of the vegetable slice...
