Nice place. Very homey. Made you definitely have the feeling of being at someone’s home. Decorated nicely for Christmas. Loved the big doggie of course. The only issue I had was a nasty patron who yelled at all of us to not close the door behind us. Which out of respect when you leave you shut the door. At that point I felt very uncomfortable I couldn’t wait to leave!!

Legendary neighborhood bar, great picture of vanishing way of life. Plenty of space for welcoming a tour bus, plenty of intimacy to relax for a couple of hours. We visited the cigar room which has some amazing artifacts of century+ of its existence. No food but up to date drink menu, including NA beers and liquor.

Great place to hang and have a couple beers. Family owned and one of the oldest bars in Detroit. Servers and customers are always friendly. Two mixed drinks for 12.00, can't go wrong. No food except for some small bags of chips. Find the hidden room!

This is a special place unlike any other I have been to. A slice of old Detroit still alive and well. The drinks are great the beer is cold but it's the atmosphere that really sets this place apart. The cigar lounge is wonderful, well ventilated, cool and the walls are covered in historic DPD artifacts. I have been to a few events here which never disappoint. Also the door man is the best around. The outside seating area is nice and spacious when the weather is right and Eric brings in some serious talent to cook several times a year. The people here are the best part of this bar. One of Detroit's hidden gems that is off the beaten path. I love a fine dive and this place is one of them. If it were not for the dog I would give this place a 5 star rating. I am fearful of them and my comfort level is not at a 10 because of the animal. I know he is a big softy but a phobia is a phobia. Good pool table, History and Cigar room and the bar is a was manufactured by Stroh's which is super cool. I suggest making the trip and have an adventure...
