I'm from Toronto and decided to have lunch here with my family before heading back to Canada. The vibe felt off from the moment we walked in. I noticed that the menu didn't have prices labeled, but we ordered what we were craving regardless. I had always heard that Pupusas are better in the U.S and everyone was right. We ordered different kinds and all were delicious. My son really loved the shrimp Pupusas. Decent size and very filling. The horchata was okay. I placed a take out order for pan con pollo and tamales de elote, but was told the pan con pollo was sold out. Overall, the food great. Service not so much. The girl serving us was very serious and not so welcoming. I felt I had to rush my meal and get out, because I wasn't comfortable. When we left I asked my family how they felt and they all said...
Read moreFirst time eating pupusas. They are like soft pitas (~5-6 inches in diameter) made of corn flour thinly stuffed with various meats and a soft white cheese. They were tasty, particularly the pork pupusa. The chicken, bean and cheese and the fish and cheese pretty much just tasted like cheese. Served with coleslaw and salsa. Two of us walked away with dinner and drinks for $14, so definitely a cheap eat. Service was polite and quick. Spanish knowledge was helpful, as the server did not speak English well (self-admitted), but from my companion's interactions with her it was clear you could order accurately not knowing...
Read moreReal Salvadoran food! If you've never had it, I guarantee you'll love it. I was born and raised in El Salvador and this place is the real deal. Ingredients are simple, any meal here is very affordable, and there's lots to choose from.
Definitely get the pupusas. They're thick tortillas stuffed with yummy ingredients. My favorite combination is the pork, beans, and cheese and you have to try them with the tomato sauce and cabbage. I've taken friends and co-worker's (meat eaters and vegetarians) there and everyone has loved the pupusas, tamales (try the sweet corn ones for dessert with the beans and crema), yuca (a stringy potato-like root), platanitos (fried plantains) soups, and pastelitos (fried dumpings stuffed with meat, potatoes, and carrots). Just try everything! Parking is on a dirt lot,...
