Had a great time hanging out at Baker's. This place has been here forever, and although the decor really shows and they're in dire need of a remodel, I'm not so sure it's the thing to do. Went to see a friend's band play, "Lorenzo Rhode's Quintet, and they hit all the right notes. Especially the smooth bass player. They're serving up good old- fashioned soul food here. The waiters are cool, efficient and very good. I had the Ocean Perch Meal with Collard Greens and Black-eyed Peas. Be careful of that red bottle sitting on the table. It's not ketchup. It's hot sauce, and it sure does come in handy. Spices it up. Even though the food is darn good already. Drinks are strong. It's a good thing. We all like that. So whether you're there for the entertainment, the food or just to check out those keys on the iconic piano bar while having a drink, you'll be glad you paid that $10 cover after stepping in through those glass doors to hang out at Baker's Keyboard Lounge.

An unexceptional experience at a historical institution. $10 Parking was plentiful. I assume the cover charge was higher due to Valentine's Day because we were charged $25 as apposed to $15. We arrived just before 10pm and told to order quickly because the kitchen would be closing. We ordered right then only for our waiter to return and tell us the kitchen was closed. The drinks were GREAT. Strong and tasty. Great seats right up at the stage. The band was great (with exception to the vocalist. We didn't enjoy him at all). The biggest disappointment was the music selection. There was NO JAZZ. The band played VERY standard r&b joints (Before I let go, etc) which I found slightly boring as a music fan. They're booked there every Tuesday so I won't be going then. But I will return (maybe on the weekend) and hopefully my experience is better. My mother and Grandmother used to frequent here, so I was excited to join in the history. Maybe next time .

Worst experience ever! We've been hearing good things about Bakers over the years so my fiance and I decided to try this spot out for sweetest day. This spot ruined our night. We arrived there about 10:30p. Walked in, paid the cover charge and was told to find a seat. It's a small spot, crowded evening yet we found the perfect booth right in front of the band. The table was dirty but we assumed that our waiter would clean the table once they saw new guests sitting there needing assistance. As soon as we were seated our waiter acknowledged us as he was walking by and told us that he'll b right with us. At that moment I was pleased with the experience so far. It appeared that they were attentive and efficient but apparently my thoughts were too soon. We watched our waiter continuously walk past us serving other tables, cleaning tables of guests who were leaving and taking bar orders while continuously telling us that he'll be right with us every time he past our table. After sitting there for over 20 MINUTES at a dirty table, I stopped our waiter who wasn't going to acknowledge us at that point and asked if we could get a menu. He responded sure and came back about 5 minutes later with menus. My fiance then asked if he could clean the table because that wasn't our drinks. We've been sitting there for over 20 MINUTES with no menu, no water and a dirty table. He responded sure and as he was cleaning the tables he said "you shouldn't had sat at a dirty table." That was only table that was available at that time where we didn't have to squeeze in between or disturb other guests! My fiance responded how we didn't know however the waiter walked off before my fiance could explain to him about the limited seating. Now I'm pissed. He's clearly disrespecting us on purpose for no reason! When he was about to walk past us again, I stopped him and before I could say anything he cut me off "I will be right with u". That was the 10th and last time I was going to hear that lie because he never served us. I said "Excuse me? No. When are we going to get some assistance?" He responded with attitude "I said I'll b right with ya'll" and walked away. My fiance and I spent 45 MINUTES in this establishment and didn't even receive a glass of water! We watched others come in and get served by other waitresses and enjoying their experience. At that moment things weren't going to get better with him as our waiter. He was VERY VERY RUDE. We gathered our things and went to the front to ask for our money back. We explained to the workers at the door what happened, they were apologetic and gave us our money back but gave no other incentive to make us want to come back. Now it's after 11:30p and other restaurants are closing. I hope the waiter who name I never got has been reprimanded however we would never know. I want some gratification. There was absolutely no reason to be treated the way he treated us. The only way I could describe him is black (brown skinned) with a nappy fro. So immediately ask for another waiter if you get someone that looks like that. I was so disappointed with our experience. We drove all the way from taylor to be disrespected. At this point I would not recommend this place to anyone. There's other jazz lounges (Dirty Dog, Cliff Bells) that treats ALL their guests with respect. Go to those...

Beautiful atmosphere Beautiful music! There is a few drawbacks that will prevent me from returning! First, I arrive at 6pm and the only secure parking has a $10 fee. Then when we enter the lounge we are told if we stay after 8pm there's a $20 fee to stay and listen to the live music! I'm out $30 before I can eat or have cocktails. We are seated and the wait to order cocktails is very long. Although we waited for the rest of our party to arrive to order food our drinks took forever to get someone to take our order and when we finally did we were told by the greeter, there wasn't any Cabernet but another waitress told us there was. She brings our drinks and as the rest of our party arrives we decide we want to order food, which by the way took 30 minutes to get someone to take our order. Another guest arrives as our food is coming out and is told by the waitress that she would take her drink and food order after she brings out everyone's food. Meaning everyone in the restaurant. By this time there's a lot of people in the restaurant. It took about 45 minutes for our table to get our food and our last guest still did not get to place her order The waitress was very dismissive of our large party . We struggled to get water food and cocktails. Even getting water refills were an issue The attitude was nasty. Maybe she had too many tables and not enough help. But our service was subpar. For the amount of money we each paid before getting any service. The last guest to our party could not get anyone to take her order, so she went to the bar to order her food. We listened to the music ate our food and an hour later our last guest still did not have her food. We were ready to go and she had to take her food as a carry out This experience was horrible. The space was too cramped also. The music was great but it was not worth all of the other negative distractions. And that bathroom. No holder for the toilet paper and faded toilet seats was just gross! I hadn't been here in many years and a lot has changed. It used to be very affordable and now the entrance fee is too high, the parking is too high and the price for cocktails and food is too expensive. The wine is a cheap, I had the worst Cabernet ever. This was my cousins birthday and nothing was celebratory about it . She enjoyed herself not because where we were but the company of her friends and family. We tried to make lemonade from a lemon experience. I'm not coming back! Hopefully I can see that band at another more organized and less ghetto...

We arrived at 4:30 as the time on the website says they open at 4 pm. We were told the kitchen would not open until 5:15 pm. so we got a drink and said we would wait. We asked for a topshelf long island and topshelf margarita. We could tell she was not the bartender based on how she was making the drinks and having previous experience as a bartender. There were also little bugs flying around as if the counter had not been cleaned off last night before they left. We asked if could sit at a table while we waited for the kitchen to open. She said yes and we listened to the young lady on her personal call from the time we entered the building. She never came to table to check on us or anything. We asked if we could have a menu when we finally could get her attention at 5:38. At this point she bought over two glasses of water and no menu. A couple came in around 5:45, they sat themselves and the young girl immediately came over with menus. At this point I was very annoyed. Another young man finally came out the kitchen I asked him if we could have a menu as we had been there since 4:30. He immediately brought over the menu. I don't know if he said something to her or she was finally listening, but she decided to come over and check me with her attitude, and told me that she not the waitress and proceeded to tell me that we didn't tell her we were eating and more stuff with her very unprofessional and attituded self. At this point more staff was starting to come in. We placed the order, got the food which was good, although they put your side items in small bowls which would be equivalent to around 3 tablespoons. To add insult to injury this place now has the tip added into your bill. So you are going to tip regardless of the service. So for 2 meals and 2 drinks I spent $100.00 which I would gladly paid some place else with...
