L George's Coney Island — Restaurant in Detroit

Like many born and raised in Detroit El George’s has been almost as traditional as an American holiday. I have eaten here so many times I cannot even begin to count since I was very young the grilled chicken has tasted the same. We still haven’t figured out the secret recipe , When I went to sit down to get the same nostalgic feel I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had made some building upgrades. The food was definitely delicious and there are absolutely no complaints in regards to that Category. Now that all of the pros are out the way, let me speak of the cons. One of the best parts about El Georges has always been the customer service. I have single-handedly watched today how customer service can kill a business. Since I had to order and sit down, I was brought my food, but no one ever came back to check on me. When I was done eating. I went to pay at the front. This is normal, but when I went to the front, the cashier was upset because I did not know who my server I explained to her that I didn’t know because after placing my order, nobody came to check on me. The cashier is the one who handed me my food. She got very angry as I was trying to explain and pushed me off to another cashier I was incredibly disturbed by how angry she was off of little exchange . word-of-mouth means everything and just based off of the customer service, I cannot recommend anyone to spend their hard earned money in a place that does not respect them. No amount of good food is worth the disrespect. Not only did they lose my business today they also lost an opportunity to be written up in a local newspaper that I just so happen to write for. I'm only giving 1 star because the only good part of the meal was the drink not the main course or the side. I ordered the nachos, mozzarella sticks and a pink lemonade. The pink lemonade was the only good part of the food. The beef tasted fake and wasn't really seasoned well on the nachos. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I couldn't even finish it. The mozzarella sticks were meh the cheese tasted fake as well. The pink lemonade however was excellent, not too sweet and very refreshing I enjoyed it a lot. Lastly is the customer service, when I placed my order over the phone there was loud people talking in the background but the woman on the phone was very professional. Now when my mother arrived to pick up my order it wasn't done. Apparently it makes no sense to call in an order because they won't start cooking it until you arrive which literally defeats the purpose of CALLING IN AN ORDER. I would have liked to know that when I ordered as well considering she gave me an estimated time for when the food would be done.... Not only that but whoever was at the counter was very rude to my mother and had a bad attitude. So all in all not a good experience and I won't be ordering anything from this...

My coworker and I ordered from here today by way of grub hub. The food arrived on time but our orders were wrong. My eggs were cooked wrong and my coworker’s fries were missing. We called the driver who advised us to call the restaurant. We did. Thus the problem. I told her the issues. She said we needed to call grub hub. I asked why we needed to call them when Leo’s made and messed up the order? She placed me on hold to speak with the owner. He advised her to get off the phone and she hung up on me. I went to the restaurant with the food. I advised her I was the woman she’d just hung up on and asked for her manager. She informed me before going to get him she was instructed to do so by the owner. Whether that was true or not I don’t know but either way it was a disrespectful and unprofessional move. The owner was cooking and would not come speak with me. They remade the food while the rest of our food got cold. First and last time using grub hub and getting food from this restaurant. I did manage to keep my composure but I was fuming at how little regard they had for messing up the order of a paying customer. All in all, I paid delivery for food I had to leave work to go pick up....
