They have a parking lot which is a big plus for the area. The little store is fully stocked with produce, staples, a butcher counter, every kind of Mexican snack you can think of, cleaning supplies and all kinds of trinkets (souvenir-type items). The restaurant itself is smartly decorated with Mexican-themed art and knick-knacks. It's spacious and functional but has a comfy feel from the warm, welcoming Mexican decor. We were greeted and seated immediately and had great service during the meal. The menu is loaded with traditional Mexican fare including the ever-famous tripe soup! Prices are reasonable too. Meals are roughly $10 - $15. It was only 10 am when we were there so we ordered from the breakfast menu. There's only a handful of breakfast items to chose from. I ordered a delicious cup of coffee that was served in a cute pottery cup! I ordered the Huevos Revueltos which is basically eggs scrambled with ham and a side of rice and beans. I was served a huge portion of eggs and ham. They were scrambled hard which dried them out a little bit but they were still tasty and full of ham! The rice was soft. moist and flavorful and the beans were creamy and sprinkled with cheese! I also liked the salsa they served with their complimentary basket of tortilla chips (yes, at 10 am!). It was very fresh with bits of cilantro, onion and jalapeno. So many Mexican restaurants are serving bland tomatoey salsa these days. Meh! This salsa was fresh and had a hint of zip! For those people looking to eat a little later in the day, they serve alcohol! They have all kinds of fancy drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I will definitely be returning! I have to try their tacos!

Wish I could leave no stars. Stopped by here to try them out, and was quickly turned off with everything. The food smelled weird and was nasty, the restaurant part of the building smells weird as well. Upon receiving the food, we mentioned the food wasn’t good to the server and stated we were didn’t want it, and was leaving instead. The waitress walked away to check with someone, just to come back stating all sales are final, and that she could only offer 15% off the order. Offering 15% off an order that any customer has stated was nasty and smelled weird, “slap in the face”. It’s like hey I don’t care about anything but making money. The 15% off the order was $1, and they kept stressing that’s all they could offer as if that was a huge chunk of the bill. We left all of the food because who’s taking nasty food with them, or leaving with food from anywhere that smells funny or bad. The total of the bill was $42.36, so they didn’t even take the 15% off the entire bill just off 1 of the items. Upon leaving we called back to the establishment to speak with a manager, she states her name was Renee, she stated wasn’t there at the time, asked if we mentioned the issues while we were there as if I didn’t just tell her the waitress was aware of the issue. She then states all sales are final. I mentioned to her there is no where on the door we entered saying ALL SALES WAS FINAL. She then for quiet and said well it’s posted. I asked her where was this sign posted, she said it’s on the carry out door, and I told her it wasn’t on the door we entered, nor was it on the tables we sat at because we dined in. I told her they can’t just post the sign out of sight, or claim it’s posted and then not offer refunds for terrible service, and food. She then gives the call off to another “manager” This manager states her name was , who then ask what’s going on I tell her. She starts off with why didn’t you say anything while you were here. So this now makes my 3-4 time repeating myself to someone else about how the waitress went to the back and came back offering 15% off the order. I’m asking her what’s the problem with refining an order any customer isn’t satisfied with vs Jeep saying all sales are final, knowing it’s not posted everywhere, so people will know prior to entering the building. She then ask me was the food nasty because we didn’t like the taste of it, or if the food was nasty because of the taste, as if that’s not the same question twice. If a customer states they don’t like something, how it’s bad, smell, weird and nasty why the interrogation. I told her there was no sign on the door we entered stating all sales were final, so the followed up asking we came in through the entrance? As if coming through the window was an option. Even the drinks was off in this place Never again ‼️‼️ And in response, to the response from the establishment, You know good and well we weren’t satisfied upon leaving, why would anyone leave satisfied after wasting their time and money and nasty food, hence us calling back after leaving about the same issue You mentioned we are the food, which is an overstatement, the food was not ate, we attempted to eat the food that was ordered but of course, like we stated before it was nasty, disgusting and smelled weird. How else would someone know their food was nasty if they didn’t try eating it? The food was left in the establishment, with the trash service. And you’re now talking about the policy can be found online. Wtf comes in a restaurant to dine eat, and then go online to look for a policy, things of that sort should be POSTED throughout the establishment, and if it’s more than one door for entry and exit it should be posted there as well

Leaving a bad review for a place I love(d). And I never leave bad reviews. Called in and ordered pickup vs placing an order online because I wanted to pay cash. Person over the phone was very nice and repeated my order back to me without issue. I went to pick it up and only half my order was ready. The other half was voided out without explanation. I had somewhere to be on a tight schedule so I left without my food, saying I would be back in 30 minutes. When I returned, the second half of my order still wasn’t ready. Not a big deal. I went to pay, the cashier was on the phone the entire time and barely acknowledged my existence. Whatever, that’s fine. I finally get my food an hour after I order it. I ask for a small side of sour cream to go with it. The woman at the counter wants to charge me. I explain that I had my order messed up and have waited for an hour and would hope they would throw in the small ramikin of sour cream for my trouble and effort. The woman at the counter refused. I would have let ALL of this go and just chalk it up to not their best day. However, when I got home, I found a chunk of cardboard in my food. Truly the final straw. I cannot describe the multiple layers of incompetence, neglect and indifference that would have to be achieved at every level of my experience to make me want to leave a bad review for a place I normally love. Not sure I will be back and that’s truly disappointing. If your servers are not empowered to offer a $1 1 oz ramikin of sour cream to a disappointed customer who paid full price for food that wasn’t made on time and with cardboard inside, then maybe someone should get off their phone and pay attention to the people who help support your small business. Deeply disappointed.

La Jalisciense is a lively gem in Southwest Detroit offering authentic Jaliscan flavors in a casual and welcoming setting. Known for its bold food, full bar, and festive atmosphere, it’s a favorite for locals craving real-deal Mexican cuisine. Outdoor Seating: One of the best features is the cozy outdoor seating with enclosed luminarias—perfect for enjoying your meal outside no matter the season. Menu Highlights: Here are five standout items that showcase the rich variety on the menu: Cecina de Res – Thinly sliced, marinated grilled beef. Birria de Chivo – Hearty goat stew packed with flavor. Chicharrones – Crispy pork belly served with a spicy peanut sauce. Tacos – Customizable with meats like carne asada or al pastor. Pambazo – A chile-dipped sandwich filled with chorizo and potatoes. Drinks: The full bar features massive margaritas with Tajín-rimmed glasses, micheladas, aguas frescas, and even spiked horchata. It’s a great place to sip and relax with friends. Final Take: Whether you dine inside or out, La Jalisciense offers a festive vibe, strong drinks, and some of the best tacos and pambazos around. A must-visit in Detroit’s Mexicantown.

Tried to dine in on a Saturday evening & there was an hour wait so I made a reservation for Sunday at 1130a. Walking through the door closest to Vernor, the taquerís is to the left and the supermarket(ercado) is to the right. Didn't need a reservation today bc we walked in and were told to sit anywhere. QR code unreadable on center of our table but the waitress brought wood covered menus. Tortillas, salsa & limes given to snack. After getting my goat stew, i requested a side of tortillas. (My mom had ordered mixed fajitas which came with a small plate of refried beans & rice, and tortillas.) Asked again for out side of sour cream & her half an avacado. Eventually she was brought the avacado & sourcream. At this time i requested a side of tortillas (again) cheese, and sourcream (again). After 12, it got busy & became difficult to gain our waitress's attention but someone else took the bill & gave us carryouts
