From the moment you walk into Taco Wuey, you can tell this isn’t your average taqueria. The space has a modern, beautiful decor colorful yet classy, with a warm glow and attention to detail that perfectly blends traditional Mexican roots with a contemporary Detroit edge. It feels like a place designed with pride, ideal for a date night, family outing, or just to unwind over good food and creative drinks. The agua frescas are incredible fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balanced in sweetness.I ordered the Camarones Yucatecos, and it completely exceeded expectations. The shrimp were perfectly seared, tender, and packed with flavor from the guajillo achiote sauce, resting beautifully on banana leaf with onions, rice, and plantains. Every component complemented the next smoky, sweet, and savory all in one dish. You can tell Chef Eddie Vargas really understands how to balance flavors while keeping things authentic and soulful. The salsas and sauces here deserve their own spotlight each one adds a unique punch. The fact that they offer multiple types of flavorful sauces on the side makes it easy to customize every bite to your taste. The Dubai Churro was a masterpiece. A creative, modern twist that’s as fun to look at as it is to eat. Crispy outside, soft inside, with layers of sweetness and texture a truly innovative and wellexecuted dessert that sums up the entire experience here.Overall, Taco Wuey is a gem in Southwest Detroit Definitely one of the most creative and delicious Mexican dining experiences in the city.

After one visit, I can already tell this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the city. Right away, they hint that things are different when you get salsa with wheat chicharrones instead of chips. The food was an authentic but exciting twist on Mexican favorites. The servers were very attentive and nice. I really loved the gobernador taco with shrimp, poblano, and cheese. Fried in a blue masa tortilla, it was heavenly. The Milanese taco was great as well. Also loved the aguachile macho - it was an amazing blend of flavors and also way more than me and my friend could eat. I also loved that every table had a container of salsa macha right on the table. One of my faves - if you are intimidated by it looking like chile crisp don’t worry, it’s not super spicy. Will absolutely be back, likely on a regular basis.

The food is absolutely delicious—bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. It's an elevated Mexican fusion style, made with high-quality ingredients that truly shine. Everything was perfect: the dishes looked elegant and appetizing, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A special shout-out to Tina, who was incredibly kind, lovely, and always smiling. We felt genuinely cared for here, with amazing food and an outstanding team.

Just tried Tacos Wuey for carry-out and WOW, I’m already planning my next visit! The food was phenomenal. I had a taco packed with shrimp, steak, and huitlacoche (I think it was called La Fina) and honestly, I wish I ordered more. Every bite was layered with bold flavor and cooked to perfection.

The spot itself is small but swanky, beautifully decorated with an upscale vibe that still feels cozy and cool. It’s the kind of gem Detroit needs more of a perfect pre-downtown dinner stop or date night hangout. 10/10 would 100% recommend. Don’t sleep on this place. Go before everyone else finds...
