Lou's Deli — Restaurant in Detroit

My favorite place to get corned beef sandwiches. Is it the best place to get corned beef sandwiches and egg rolls? that part is debatable. Their balance between fatty, meaty, juicy, and even their bread and condiments has always been best here, even over the years. Its always on point. Arby's claims they have the meats, but this corned beef blows away everything Arby's could try and throw at it. Everything else at this deli, besides the thickness of the glass, is just average. They make a few other sandwiches also and yes they are good, but the starr of the show is for sure the corned beef sandos.

Dont even try to dine in. I recommend calling in and only coming in to get your order. Then leave. God thing they have a decent sized parking lot while you wait. Also the service is never great so your not missing out on anything going on inside.

Had I written this review 15 to 20 years ago, I probably would have given them a 5 star. If your a Detroit OG and havent been in a while, things have really changed. The sandwiches are good, but not what they used to be. Almost tho, so you wont be disappointed. You will be disappointed, yet still glad they are around after all these years so you can still get that classic 1 of a kind corned...

UPDATE: My husband and I use to live in Detroit. When we got married in 2005, we moved to Lansing but we still loved Lou's. We would make trips down to Detroit just to get some good corned beef. We will not be doing that anymore.

We came down today to take care of some business and decided to get some Lou's while we were there and we left very disappointed.

They did not put mustard on my Dinty Moore and the corned beef did not taste the same. The back area where the bathrooms were smelled like weed like they were smoking weed back there. I asked to go to the bathroom and the cashier would not even touch the thing that the bathroom key was attached to which gave me the impression that it was nasty.

To top it all off, the weed man came and delivered some weed to one of the people behind the counter. This was the worst experience that we have ever had and for that reason we will not be coming back.

Wish there was one in Lansing, Mich. It is worth the 88...

Customer service from the young woman is awful. I ordered a corned beef eggroll and small seasoned fries and strawberry lemonade. My receipt said that she added Swiss. When i attempted to correct her and tell her that I didn't ask for cheese she rudely replied "why didn't you say meat only" . As I attempted to say the menu specifies that it comes with meat and coleslaw and a .75 up charge to add Swiss. She rudely interrupted by yelling to the cook "meat only ". Then I said what about the coleslaw then she said you have to tell me you want meat and coleslaw. Then she started yelling to the cook "meat and coleslaw". I asked doesn't she owe me some change. She slapped it in the turntable and didn't even apologize. I won't patronize this rude behavior. I had to get new fries because the first ones were cold. They gave me another order of cold fries so I just requested a refund. The unseasoned cold old fries were...
