I decided to try this restaurant for breakfast, and ordered a western skillet. The menu says it comes with 3 eggs any style, so I asked for 2 of them scrambled and one overeasy. The waitress took my order and left. Moments later I hear shouting from the kitchen, “WE CAN’T DO THAT!! WE DON’T DO THAT!!!” I turned around, shocked at the screaming going on. The manager chimed in with the shouting. Mind you, it was only around 6:30AM. Nobody needs to hear shouting from staff they’re trying to eat it, and especially not before sunrise. The waitress walked away, and not to me, and I figured it was some outrageous call in order or something. Several minutes pass and then my waitress comes to me and tells me they can’t do 2 scrambled eggs and 1 overeasy. I thought she had to be joking. And by the reaction of the cook and manager, you would think I sent my waitress to tell the kitchen cook my breakfast while doing a handstands and spinning plates on their feet. So naturally, I asked if I could speak with the manager. My poor waitress goes to the kitchen and tells him, and I hear her shouting, “DID YOU TELL HER WE DON’T DO THAT?!!!” He begrudgingly comes to my table and says starts saying he can’t do that with the eggs or I’ll have to pay for separate meals. Whattt????? This is real life, folks. The menu says 3 eggs any way. He argued and was rude, and when he wouldn’t just do it, even as a one time courtesy, I decided I wasn’t going to give him my business. Acting like it’s some outrageous and unreasonable request, when every other food establishment I can think of (Mexican restaurants, pizzerias, other breakfast joints, etc.) would honor what it says on a menu, is absolutely ridiculous. I didn’t need to deal with the yelling, rudeness, and complete absence of service that early in the morning. Read the other negative reviews and realize that there’s certainly a pattern going on. I would have been better grabbing a breakfast sandwich at...
Read moreMy mother took me here for the first time experience of trying the corned beef, I had a horrible experience. Never have I been treated so bad or witnessed and establishment be so rude to a customer. When we ordered the lady acted as if she wasn't interested in taking our order at the drive through, she rushed us in a very condenscecending way. Figured she didn't have a good day, but it got worse. She let out food sit in front of us for 3 minutes and did not add our drinks. She labeled our sandwiches wrong, and we sat in the drive through for 15 minutes honking the horn to get some service after seeing workers ignores us and pass by the window 5+ times. When the lady came to the window she gave my mother a new total, as if she was the customer behind us, with a very nasty tone. I mean the attitudes of the staff was appalling, I called up, after the horrible experience telling the lady that we had a horrible experience and that I didn't plan on coming back, she laughed and said "okay". They had no reason to treat us so rudely. This is not the first time that I've heard of this establishment treating people badly. Never been treated so rude in my life. I could understand if it was rush hour and they were very busy, but they were lounging around and seems as if they had personal issues with...
Read moreThis place is absolutely amazing! I travel alot for my job, and whenever I'm in Detroit I HAVE to eat here at least once. The food is delicious and the portion sizes are ENORMOUS, so be careful when ordering as it is very easy to order too much food. The wait staff are extremely friendly and courteous and the food wait times are quick. I've never been served anything "bad" on the menu and I've eaten here at least a dozen times. I highly recommend ordering anything that includes their corned beef... it is locally sourced around the corner at the Eastern Market deli (which is also fantastic, albeit a tad pricey).
Most of the 1-star reviews of this place are from obvious "Karens" who make ridiculous alterations to the menu items and/or complain about dumb, petty things. These people shouldn't be allowed in restaurants or even allowed out of their house in most cases. I cannot comment on their drive-thru service as I have never done it, but in my experience, drive-thru to-go orders are a crapshoot no matter what restaurant you order from.
Hands down, this is THE BEST DINER IN DETROIT! Definitely better than the Original Pancake House, and that's saying something, because that place is pretty good too.
You will not be disappointed by Louie's, and if you are, your name...
