I normally don't write a review but wanted to share my story to bring awareness for others.
Background: I got 4 bags of goat legs and a box of chicken breast. While waiting in line to pay, one of the employees comes up to me and says this isn't a box of chicken breast, this is a box of chicken tenders. Apparently both boxes look the same, and i did pick up the box where they only have chicken breasts. So to replace the box of chicken breast, i had to take the 4 bags of goat legs out of my cart and place them on the checkout counter. I guess another customer accidently took one of my bags, and i didn't realize someone else had taken my bag of goat legs. (This all happened before i paid)
The Corruption: So when i paid, i ended up paying for 4 bags instead of 3 since I wasn't aware someone else had walked out with one my bags.. I realized after i paid that i only got 3 bags but they charged me for 4. The owner looked in CCTV and explained someone else took my bag (before i had paid for it).
I thought the owner was going to do the right thing and make things right by only charging me for 3 bags. Instead his reply was "How is it my fault that someone else took your bag?"
Well, if i haven't paid for it yet, then i don't own it yet. So technically, you overcharged me because at the time i paid, i only had 3 bags in my possession.
The owner then pulls out a $20 bill out of his wallet and says he'll pay for half of it. I'm like keep your money, i don't want your money, i'm not money hungry. I just want you to do the right thing which is i should only get charged for 3 bags, not 4 because i only had 3 bags in my posession at the time i paid.
Conclusion: I just dont understand how they can say its the customer's fault if another customer just walked away with a bag of my groceries if i haven't even paid for it yet??? I can understand that after i pay i am responsible, but if i haven't paid yet how am i responsible? Explain that logic because the owner struggled immensely to explain how this is the customer's fault.
Beaware people, this business follows corrupted billing practices! Will be reporting this business to BBB as well.
To the Owner: My Muslim brother, make tauba for how you handled my case. Because Allah will not forgive anyone who steals possession of another person unless you ask for forgiveness from that person. Taking out a $20 bill is not how you make things right! That was very arrogant of you to do that. May Allah guide...
Read moreWe visit Saad Wholesale in Detroit once or twice a year for meat. Their prices are good and the quality has always been good. This is not a store as we know it. It's a slaughterhouse/meat cooler. They claim their meats are Halal and promote them as such. I have not witnessed the slaughter, so I don't know if they prayed and done the slaughter all correctly or whether their animals were raised accordingly or not. You would have to decide for yourself if necessary. Some of their items are prepackaged while others such as chicken are in tubs where you can bag what you like. They do have disposable gloves for you to use. They also will cut and grind things like beef and lamb to your liking. You will find a combination of fresh, frozen and prepackaged items here. Most of the beef, lamb and chicken will be fresh. However they do sell cases of chicken leg quarters, breasts and thighs that are prepackaged but not frozen. All the fish I saw is frozen, and they have items like chicken nuggets and patties that are also frozen. They also sell hot dogs, sausages and bacon made from beef, chicken and turkey. They are open to the public Monday through Saturday with current hours of 7 AM - 2 PM. Be aware if you visit you will be shopping in a meat cooler, so bring a coat. They tend to be very busy around Ramadan, so be prepared to stand outside in line for as long as an hour. Do note and beware that this place is not located in a nice part of town. I am sure this explains their hours.
A small note to those traveling to Detroit to shop. The roads are terrible there :-)

Read moreThis was my first time ordering from Saad Wholesale Meat, and while I truly appreciate the excellent delivery and secure packaging, I’m extremely disappointed with how my instructions were completely disregarded.
I had clearly mentioned my cutting preferences when placing the order and even followed up with a phone call. The person I spoke with informed me they were busy due to the 4th of July weekend something that was not mentioned on the website. Still, I was understanding and requested that at the very least, the chicken be cut into pieces. But none of the meat was cut as requested.
What’s the point of ordering meat if it isn’t prepared the way your household needs it? People come from different customs and cultures, and how the meat is cut matters it directly affects how it’s cooked and eaten. I ordered seven whole chickens, all came with skin on and not a single cut. I specifically requested coarsely ground meat, but the kheema was ground so finely that even my kids refused to eat it. It was honestly a waste of money.
I also ordered lamb shanks, which were supposed to be cut again, not done. It feels like customer instructions are ignored entirely. If the business is too busy, hire more help or at the very least, notify customers ahead of time so we can make informed decisions.
It’s incredibly disappointing to be treated this way, especially as a new customer. When businesses grow, that should mean better service, not careless handling of orders. Sadly, this experience left me feeling let down...
