McDonald's — Restaurant in Detroit

This McDonald's is horrible. The service is terrible. The food is usually really bad. Fresh fries are cold and hard, meat is disgusting, buns are hard, nuggets are cold and hard. Double check your order before paying and when you get it, because they usually mess up the order or the sizing(order a meal, large size with pop and the frys are small or the pop is wrong). Don't expect the ice cream, freezey machines or Mccafe machines to be working, or product available. Staff is surly, slow, rude, swearing. I've seen plenty of health code violations (I've worked fast food in the past & I'm pretty tolerant of most places). Managers are no better. Inside, customers are always complaining. Orders are very rarely correct, inside and drive thru. Even after they pull you forward to wait and bring it out, the wait is excessive (10+min minimum every time). I have a child with food allergies so I HAVE TO special order. It is NEVER right and I get major attitude about special ordering, I make sure to tell them and I double check. No matter if I go in or drive thru, the staff make it clear that it is a major hassle for them and have been downright rude about it. The inside is always dirty/sticky floors/bullet proof glass is just dirty. Do not use the bathroom. There is usually a homeless person inside asking for change. I don't mind helping and have bought lunch for them before. The drive thru always has a long wait, even with only a few cars in front of yours. Be careful in the lot because people drive crazy as heck. Its the closest to my house but I try to avoid it. I would give zero stars if possible. Avoid this McDonald's and go to any other near by. The next closest is on Telegraph between 9 and 10 mile. They aren't much better but anywhere is an improvement. AGAIN, DONT GO TO THIS MCDONALD'S. DONT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE. I picked up a doordash order from here recently and I had to wait in the drive through line for almost an hour for large fries and a shake. FRIES AND A SHAKE. They should've pulled me forward as soon as I got to the speaker box, like any competent fast food crew member, but instead they told me to pull forward to the second window and had me sit and wait in the line for about 30-40 minutes. When I pulled up to the second window, THEY PULLED ME FORWARD ANYWAYS. JUST HAVE ME PULL FORWARD TO THE FRONT OF THE STORE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I SAT AND WAITED FOR THIS POOR LADYS ORDER FOR AN HOUR AND I DELIVERED IT AN HOUR LATE. Im surprised she wasn't already asleep, BECAUSE I PULLED UP TO HER HOUSE WAY AFTER AN HOUR AFTER SHE PLACED HER ORDER. FOR A SHAKE AND FRIES!!!!! YOU PUT THE FRIES IN THE BOX AND BLEND THE ICE CREAM WITH MILK IT TAKES LIKE 5 MINUTES IT ISNT THAT HARD. If I ever did that at dairy queen my manager would've CHEWED ME APART. The workers had absolutely ZERO sense of urgency, might I add. It's called FAST FOOD for a reason. Did I forget to mention that it was for FRIES AND A SHAKE? An HOUR for FRIES AND A SHAKE?? DOES BAGGING UP FRIES AND A SHAKE...

If I could give negative stars, I would. McDonald’s locations in Detroit aren’t exactly known for stellar service, but the one at 8 Mile and Lahser is truly in a league of its own—rock bottom.

The early morning crew here is without question the worst I’ve encountered at any restaurant—fast food or otherwise. You’re lucky if anyone even acknowledges your existence, let alone greets you. They don’t speak, don’t make eye contact, and act like your very presence is some sort of personal insult. Expect your order to be wrong. Not occasionally—every single time.

The staff’s attitude is downright hostile, and management clearly couldn’t care less. It’s hard to believe anyone was actually hired here. The large, unfriendly women behind the counter with loudly colored hair and louder attitudes have no business working in customer service, period. They radiate pure resentment just for doing their job.

This location needs a complete reset from the top down—new management, new training, and ideally a staff who actually wants to be there. Until then, do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. Go anywhere else. Even a gas station sandwich would be a...
