Before coming to Two Birds, I did some quick research to get a feel for what I should expect... I saw only 5 star reviews! I'm here to tell you, they're well deserved.
Two Birds is exactly what I'm looking for from a good bar experience. Low key atmosphere, with a good selection of drinks, assortment of seating options, cool staff, and great music (the music... allow me to wax poetic in a few moments). I stopped by Two Birds on a Sunday night and it was empty when we arrived, but fairly full by the later portion of the night. I think most folks know this is a great place to hang out, and they've built themselves quite a crew of regulars.
The menu of signature drinks has some great options, and you'll likely find something that piques your interest. If not, not to worry! There's a full selection of wines and beers (and a great section of non-alcoholic beverages too!). The prices are reasonable, and it's the perfect place for a date night.
Additionally, I believe Two Birds does different pop up food options -- while I was there, they'd had Hand Pies as the food of the evening, and I'll just say that the Hand Pies were just fantastic.
Alright... as promised, the music. The music at Two Birds was so fantastic that it felt like they were playing a playlist curated exactly to my taste, with a mix of songs from various times in my life that were influential and really brought me back to some great memories. Extremely impressed with not only their choice of songs, but also their capability to structure the music flow in a natural and joy-inducing way. Of course, all of this is subjective, but objectively, I (obviously) have great taste in music so it must mean something :) .
Overall, I'll say you should check out Two Birds if you're looking for a cool spot to hang out in Detroit -- you...
Read moreI really love this place and have come more than a handful of time and have brought many friends. It’s a great neighborhood vibe where they support local pop ups and artists. Definitely follow their insta to get the inside scoop.
With that said my review is particularly about tonight. One of the wait staff was clearly new and learning which is great but her attitude was not. She consistently was frazzled, forgot what people ordered and had drinks waiting at the bar because she didn’t know who ordered them. When we checked out we asked to split the bill which we had asked earlier if that was okay. She struggled a bit, got extra help and we were on our way. Before leaving I mentioned there had been a gentleman outside who was walking around and asking people for money. It was nearly midnight at this point and it was off putting. She scoffed in our faces, told us that outside is a different world and told us that she didn’t care. She turned to another patron and laughed with them at us telling her about the loiterer. One would think an establishment would care about their outside seating patrons as well but she couldn’t have cared less and made that very obviously clear. It was a really disappointing and...
Read moreLast night was my first time at Two Birds- I like the atmosphere, the patio, and the drinks were good. Will go again, but the person taking orders and cashing folks out didn’t seem to have any customer service skills. It was clear she was still learning, probably overworked, and didn’t want to be there which makes the experience for patrons a little uncomfortable. Ordering drinks and cashing out was all a little clunky, but when my friend simply thought she should mention to the staff that there was a man on the patio asking people for money throughout the night, she scoffed at us, said “Well I don’t know what to tell you it’s hard times out there.” gave another exasperated laugh and laughed at us with a patron sitting at the bar. That was just uncalled for and really made me think this person has never worked in a customer service setting or at least thinks she is above treating all patrons...
