Bonjour Bakery — Restaurant in Diamond Bar

The bakery is located inside the Hannam Chain Market World supermarket. Saw the high reviews on both Yelp and Google, so we decided to give it a shot and ordered a birthday cake for a family gathering, but we regretted it. The Paris Baguette next door probably would have been so much better in terms of both food and service.

We placed our order for an 8” cake over the phone a couple of days in advance to pick up over the weekend, but when we arrived at the pick up time, there was no cake ready and it looked like they didn’t even have any record of our order. In a bind and short on time, we had to purchase a smaller pre-made 6” cake on the spot from their display case and provide the cake message to the staff again. Not a great experience already. Also, the staff mainly speak Korean, so if you don’t speak the language, communication may be an issue.

In terms of the cake, it was subpar as well. The texture was soft, but not as moist as it could have been. And the mixed berry filling was still very FROZEN when served a couple hours later which made cutting the cake (with the provided plastic cake knife) difficult and the cake itself hard to eat.

Still giving 2 stars for their last minute effort to try to put something together and the lady seemed to want to make up for things by giving us a free pastry bun. But based on our overall experience, the business is not reliable and the cake was not that tasty, so it really doesn’t deserve anything...

If you want affordable, tasty (not over sugary) and personalized cake with great service, this bakery is the perfect place!

The bakery own is more than friendly and accommodating. We ordered a two layer music themed cake for our 5 year old, it turned out just beyond what i wanted, so simple and elegant! Those whimsical handmade chocolate music notes are the cutest i’ve ever seen! It took just in one day. The cake was a great hit at my son’s birthday party, he couldn’t stop talking about how he had a blast and how tasty the cake was and every kid got to eat a “music note”.

John has such a horrible attitude when handling our order. We were supposed to pick up a “DoorDash pick up order” (a birthday cake) today in-store. However, when we arrived at the store asking for our order, John told us the order has been picked up by the delivery guy and refused to admit that he confused the orders. He did not offer any refund or try to track down the order, instead kicked us out with a very rude manner and accused us being delivery thieves.
