Restaurante El Campeón — Restaurant in Dorado

Honest review of our experience at El Campeón -It was nice that they sat us since we had a big party of 8. It took about 10 mins for us to be seated and we got seated around 7:30pm -No one informed us how long the food would take. It would’ve been nice to know if there was a wait. Apparently the kitchen cooks table by table. -No one greeted us when we got to the table. After looking over the menu for 15 mins still no one greeted us, we had to get one of the servers attention. -we ordered 8 waters, then realized it was bottle water and ask them to take back 3. -we ordered 3 appetizers and 5 entrees to share. They came back letting us know that one of the entrees we wanted were out so we end up with 4 only. -we didn’t get our food until 9:20 That means almost 2 hours since we got there -food was decent but not worth the wait -worst part was our 4 entrees came out and they forgot our 3 appetizers. We realized the next table started getting their food. Waited then we finally went up to the cash register to tell them that we think they forgot our appetizers and to cancel it. -They printed out the receipt and our three entrees were still on there, we went back and asked them to take them off. Instead they took two which caused us to go back to ask them to take off. Lastly, saw they charged us for 8 water instead of 5. When I went back to talk to them, she gave me an attitude and asked me if there was anything else. I told her the waiter wrote the order down that it should’ve been correct the first place, she responded she wasn’t the one to take our order. -unless you have time to wait for food, I wouldn’t bother coming here. Customer service is horrible and they were trying to overcharge us for things we didn’t get. They do not take ownership to their faults and starting giving us attitude. Overall...

After strolling along the beautiful streets of San Juan, we came upon El Campeon, which appeared to be authentic and fun. The meal started off great, our drink order was taken as well as our food order. This hopeful action soon turned to bittersweet sorrow. On a good note, I thoroughly enjoyed the ice tea and Diet Coke. Our appetizers were brought out very quickly, and they were relatively good but don't order calamari (it truly was awful). We then proceeded to wait and wait and wait....everyone's meal came out at different times. And after an hour there were two meals that did not come out at all. We had to leave to get back to the boat and when we asked to get the meal that did not come out to be removed from the ticket, they were hesitant. Needless to say, they should have been more accommodating and one of our party members actually was told in a very loud stern voice that we knew our meal would take a while....which was not true. Horrible experience! I sure hope if you decide to go that they serve you better. Oh, and the ticket was astronomical for the amount of food we got.....way too expensive. We had four appetizers, two actual meals, and two teas and five sodas....total bill...

We went for dinner here and had the most terrible experience here - right from the terrible food, the attitude of the servers, the time taken to give our food to the extremely rude treatment by the staff (particularly the person in charge - the female staff). First of all, the food for four people took over an hour to come. The food itself tasted pretty bad. Two of us were vegetarians and had informed them of this and ordered rice and beans (frijoles). The beans was cooked with pork despite us telling them that we don't eat meat or seafood of any kind. When we told them about this and asked them to take the food back, they were extremely rude and got angry with us - despite it being their mistake. They also charged $4 for the "rice" out of the $5 rice and beans that we did not eat. After that, the bill they provided had a pre-added $30% tip!!! They initially said it is "automatic" and when we questioned it, they very rudely snached the bill from us and changed it to $20%. We were also charged $2 for tap water!!! Overall, it was the worst experience we had in Old San Juan. All other places we went to had really good service except this place. Highly recommend...
