I rarely do reviews but I'm so upset with my experience yesterday that I have to share it with others.
First off, the staff is/was great! Not a single issue with that. They were friendly, welcoming, and worked quickly.
Second of all, I ordered the "BBQ Special" which is the #12 also known as the "Doralzuela BBQ". It claims to be for two people. I ordered it for my dad and I to split while we saw a soccer game. I was looking forward to it because I usually get these type of platters/meals at food trucks in Miami and they rarely disappoint.
After paying $27 (which is roughly $5 to $10 more than what I have paid at other spots), I expect a fairly large and heavy container holding all the food.
But NOPE. I got a small little slim container that would fit a large hot dog with the meats in it. As Stephen A. Smith from ESPN would say, "We've been hoodwinked, bamboozled, lead astray, run amok and flat out deceived!".
I'm not one to bring the food back and complain or try to get my money back. Money comes and goes. But my time was surely wasted. The food was def NOT for two people. The meats were bland. It was also pretty damn salty. For $27 I would have had a field day elsewhere.
Third, and last of all, I bought my friend a cheeseburger & myself a hot dog aside from that "bbq platter". The hot dog was ate in about 4 bites, and was lacking any flavor. My friend's cheeseburger was alright, but not worth $9. Might as well have hit the drive through of a corporate fast food chain.
I have attached photos of:
Here are final pieces of advice to you: If you want food of good taste, go elsewhere. If you want food that actually costs its worth, go elsewhere. If you want to get a platter of meats, PLEASE go elsewhere.
So in essence, if you want to save your TIME & MONEY,...
Read moreWent because I was told they had pastelitos, which they did not. When we arrived the place was packed and there was no tables so we though, great this place is good. there was a line of people inside too.We ordered 6 items: cachapa, yuca frita, pepito de carde mechada, choripan, jusfgo de parchita and chicha. We were higly dissapointed, and my boyfriend who is American most of all. I thought there could not be a bad place to eat in Miami but I guess I was wrong. The cachapa consistency was with no texture as if it had lots of wheat flour, barely corn flavor and way too high in sugar, was put aside. The yuca was actually excellent very tender in the inside and crispy on the outside, just a little low in salt but that is ok. The parchita juice tasted good but high in sugar too. The chicha I had to take back because there was so much cinnamon in it that you could not tell what it was, asked to dump half and mix plain into it. The sandwiches were the most dissapointing thing, about 8 inches 75% bread that had absolutelly no flavor, about 2 tablespoons of meat that was lacking seasoning too. We both ended dumping the bread and eating the toppings alone to get somewhat happy taste The choripan did not even look like one, the sausage tasted very very italian and that was a turn off to begin with, you are in Miami get some latin sausage at least, but the sausage itself looked like it had been cut in 4 slices and I got 2 of them lol. I am giving this place 1 star for the atmosphere and the yuca. People down there must be desperate to get a taste of home to lined like that. Ohh did I mention they do not take credit cards? they said they are not set up for it, Set up is a Square away in 3 days, but they probably have other reasosn, just very inconvenient. This is a never...
Read moreI've been coming to pepitos since they were a hole in the wall only selling hotdogs for $2. I went today for what will definitely be the absolute last time. The prices have gotten astronomically high. The steak add ons cost as much as the meal without. $8 for a cachapa, $8 to add steak. I'm happy they have added more items to the menu, but they are raising the prices on everything thinking they are elevating the restaurant without actually changing or adding fine ingredients to their cuisine. I refuse to pay $5 for a special hot dog, for what once cost less than half. It saddens me to see a staple of doral take advantage of its local customer base. I understand covid hit everyone hard, but doral made sure to take care of it while we were quarantined. I recommend going to central park right next door as it offers almost everything pepito does for much less. Not to mention, they made sure to lower their cost in an effort to stay afloat, whilst taking care of their regulars. Please revert to what you once were Pepitos, I miss taking my family to see the soccer games at what once was my favorite...
