Place is clean, service is good, food has no taste, but worse is that we felt totally ripped off and cheated. $47 for a quick lunch with forced gratuity, in the middle of nowhere Doral; it is not Miami, or Miami Beach or Coral Gables or Coconut Grove, you are in middle of nowhere.
I checked their online menu from Google maps and checked prices before driving all the way to Doral. pictures of the place and food looked amazing. Ok. Under eggs, vegan kikiriki is listed at $12.50. But I could not find it on their physical menu. When I showed my phone to the waitress, she said it is not on the menu any longer and suggested the same thing under breakfast vegan kikiriki for $17.99. That's a price jump, but I ordered as we drove this far.
Same thing happened to my husband's sandwich/flat bread. Listed at $10 online, in physical menu it is now $18+
Food had absolutely no taste. I added salt, black pepper, lime, hot sauce to my supposed vegan eggs (which looked and tasted exactly like scrambled tofu) and also to the black beans, still no taste. 2 tiny pieces of arepas were rock hard. My husband's sandwich was supposed to have avocados mashed but he received a thin layer of bottled cold mashed avocado paste (not actual fresh avocado). Instead of a sandwich, he got a flat bread half the size and little vegan eggs (which looked and tasted exactly like scrambled tofu) but he was still hungry. His plate was $18+.
And they added 20% gratuity in the bill without mentioning it on their menu. Food was $36+ and we paid $47 with tax and tip added. Should not tip be decided by the customers? I felt totally ripped off, so I took time to write this...
Read moreI went here a few days ago for brunch with a friend and i thought the food looked really good based off the images. I had the fruity waffle, usually the waffles i have are very crunchy and fresh. This waffle didn’t have a crunch to it at all it was soft and the flavor was very bland. It wasn’t warm instead it was cold not even room temperature. My friend had the matcha which was quite tasty. I had the pink flamingo to drink. It tasted pretty artificial, I thought that the juice would be made with fresh fruit and ingredients. It tasted like they used a bunch of juices with preservatives to make it. This was probably the worst thing I got. We also had the llanerito which was the best thing I ordered but even then the meat was room temperature and the rice was cold. The last thing we got was the prosciutto and apples flat bread which was decent but they over did the blue cheese. I personally only like a little blue cheese so i didn’t like the flatbread that much. The cheese overpowered all the other toppings on the flatbread. It was basically a blue cheese flatbread. If there was less blue cheese I would’ve enjoyed it. Overall, I would only come back here for the meat everything else was average or not to my taste. The food looks better online that it...
Read moreWhere do I begin… I’ve been a vegan for 8 years and seeing the menu for this restaurant made me so excited. They have tons of vegan options. The food, however, is underwhelming and even a bit sickening. We ordered the vegan kikiriki and waffles. All of the “sugar free” labels on the menu were the first red flag— this restaurant focuses too much on “health” but the food isn’t even healthy. We also ordered the forever young and RX immune juices, along with the ice matcha latte. We thought that these could not be messed up, but our juices tasted like nothing— the RX immune had so much turmeric that it tasted like dirt. Everything would be so much better with more sugar (not stevia!), salt, and spices. They don’t use seasonings. Everything tasted like nothing. I am giving 2 stars for the waiters, who were very kind and dealt with our requests for more salt, sugar, and sauces. Other than that, I would not recommend this restaurant to vegans especially. I would suggest that Pure Joy uses REAL organic sugar options! Try organic cane sugar, agave, coconut sugar or natural...
