Okay I'm sorry that all the photos the food is half eaten but that's because the food is so delicious I forget to take photos. This place is our go-to for burgers in the city of Pittsburg. Well dormont really but you get the idea. The burgers are simple and excellent. For any expats from California the French fries here are just like the French fries at Carney's on the sunset strip and are delicious and salty. At the time I write this review an order of fries is $4 and I bet you could spread that between 3 to 4 people. They offer a full bar I haven't had any drinks there but it looks like it's pretty good. Now they do have milkshakes and the caramel vanilla whatever I get is really really good. If you need a quick relatively inexpensive and unpretentious meal this is it. Added bonus that this place makes its food super fast so you're not hanging out too long.

Tonight was Moonlit Burgers. I have been craving a really great smash burger and since it’s been a little too cold I thought tonight would be the perfect night to grab one of these babies. We’ve been before but don’t make it to Dormont often (patiently waiting for Sewickley location to open soon 👀) I got the blood orange mule they had which was solid but could use a little less ginger beer and a little more citrus (my preference). I got the classic triple and Clare got the classic single. The burgers have a great lace on them, the onions are cooked perfectly and the cheese is nice and melty. The crunchy lace mixed in with the pickles and all the other components makes this truly one of the best smash burgers around. The shoestring fries are so crunchy and have the right amount of salt they’re just perfect for me too. Couldn’t stop eating them.

Excellent addition to neighborhood! Great burgers with excellent pickles and "moon" sauce (tasted like a homemade "special sauce"). I also have to praise the cocktail list! The Feliz Navidad (The cranberries and rosemary in my glass did not go unnoticed!) and the Aperol Spritz were excellent. I love a good cocktail, and I hate it when the cocktail menu is just a bunch of super sweet bland cocktails, which is not the case here. I look forward to going back for a chicken sandwich and milkshake. Just throwing this out there, but I'd definitely go here for brunch! Us Dormonters are in need of a mimosa on the weekends, and there are very few brunch option in the area! I'm pretty sure a burger becomes brunch if there's an egg on it! We went yesterday (Saturday), and I'm already planning on going back for Wednesday night dinner.

I've been here a few times, once for dine-in and a few takeout orders.

Dine-in was great with food and service, but takeout has been hit or miss for me.

Two times now my order has been wrong or not cooked properly. The first time I just let it go, as I genuinely hate complaining and understand that mistakes happen, we were only missing one fry and it wasn't a huge deal.

The second time, we were missing two orders of fries AND the three kids grilled cheeses that we ordered were completely black. Not a little charred or something you can scrape off and eat anyway, but 100% burnt and inedible. I was frustrated because there's no way that someone didn't notice this while wrapping them up, it was all of them and was glaringly obvious. I called the restaraunt to let them know and potentially be reimbursed or pick up a remade order as it was my kids dinner, and the girl who answered the phone was wildly unfriendly. I explained the issue as nicely as I could (I get that it's not her fault!) And when I finished she said aggressively and loudly "...OK and what do you want me to do about it?" After a little back and forth, someone else took the phone, apologized for the girl and for the mistakes with our food and sent me an e-gift card refund for the fries and grilled cheeses.

I did really appreciate the last woman who got on the phone and made things right, but the whole situation has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I do want to note that the food at dine in was very good, especially the smash burger fries! The takeout burgers have always been delicious as well.

I do reccomend them for their food alone, but definitely...

This place is really close to being great but so far all my experiences here have missed the mark. The prices and the quality do not match up. I payed $14 for a bacon cheeseburger, and they still felt the need to charge an extra 75 cents for 3 pickle slices? 75 cents to add bbq sauce? My burger came out fast as lightning, in about a minute! When I bit into the burger it was lukewarm and clearly hadn’t been cooked fresh. They are cooking bunches of patties at a time and sitting them aside in a warmer, so when you order one they still a lukewarm patty on the grill for just long enough for the cheese to melt and then they serve it to you, basically eliminating the entire point and benefit of making it an smash burger in the first place. After complaining to the manager, they made me a fresh burger that tasted quite good. Why not just serve the burgers fresh in the first place? My guess is the army of 14 year olds working at the spot have devised this system on their own. Also I asked the lady working if the fries were crispy and her answer was “sometimes?” Lol. They were the worse French fries I’ve ever had, they make McDonald’s fries look good. In general this place is missing the mark but likely won’t change because burghers with no reference base for real food will continue supporting it just...

Incredible. WOW. I live nearby and finally decided to try this place. May just be the best burger I’ve ever had. I had the classic moonlit double and it was perfection. Order it exactly like it comes. Just the right amount of each ingredient and they all compliment each other for a flavor you can’t find anywhere else. A million times better than Steak and Shake but it was nice to see shoestring fries again since they all closed down near here.

I always looked forward to going to In-N-Out burger when I went to Phoenix, BurgerFi when I went to Miami, and Shake Shack in New York. I can honestly say that I truly believe this restaurant can start a country-wide franchise that’s based here in Pittsburgh. I’d suggest a location in Cranberry/Wexford to start. I know it would do well there. Seriously - the owner of this place needs to really think about capturing this level of quality and service and replicating it without losing either aspect. If it can’t be done then don’t expand until it can. This place is truly too good to lose and I really hope management sees what a gem they have.

Years from now I hope this review can be hung on a wall somewhere to prove I was right that this place stood the...
